Grand Cherokee Limited 3.0L Diesel

The engine light comes on. The dealer claims it could be caused by low def fluid. Not possible, according to the manual the full tank should go 10,000 miles and be filled at that service during the oil change. At 5497 miles we had the vehicle serviced and the def tank was topped off. It took nearly 2 gallons. At 9661 miles the vehicle went in for service because of the reoccurring engine light. The tech claimed the def was low. That is not possible unless there is problem associated with using too much def. In 4100 miles since last def fill there should be more than 1/2 tank left.

The dealers solution is for us to check the def level periodically and add fluid when necessary. REALLY!! I think there is a definite problem with a line or the def pump---I assume they check that but it does not indicate such on the warranty service.

This vehicle has been in 4 times for engine light and other lights. When such lights come on some of the features that we PAID for no longer work--like the remote start. When the other light comes on such eliminates ACC and normal cruise control and vehicle stability control. Some of those issues were addressed and readdressed with software updates. However there still remains a manufacture recall related to safety. There are no parts available to fix the problem. They cannot do software update for PCM because there is no part available for the Controller.

Each time this vehicle is in for any discrepancy it takes literally all day, and a huge inconvenience.

Finally, we enjoy all the features of this Jeep, when everything is working properly. But knowing what I know now, with all the problems, I would not invest that kind of money again.

Almost bought the comparable Lexus---now wish I had!

Purchased Overland with Diesel engine in March 2014. Display has frozen twice then cleared. Check engine light came on @4800 miles. Manual unhelpful, saying only that this warning is not unusual. Yeah, right. At less than 5k? Dealer will try to ascertain the problem next week but says vehicle safe to drive unless warning light begins "flashing."

Grand Cherokee Disel

After a visit to our local dealer because the engine light was on, we were told it was repaired. Driving up to Orlando, the engine light came on again with a message "after 100 miles the engine will NOT start, see a dealer" so I have to stop in West Palm Beach. The car has been at the dealer for 25 days and no news on when the part (Fuel injection pump) will be ready. This has been most inconvenient as we have been without a car for almost 4 weeks now.

Engine light came on one day - then would go off the next so I didn't really pay attention. But I did notice fluid under my Jeep. When looking at it, it did not look like oil so that was strange. Kept checking the oil - one day fine the next day not fine - went on for like 3 days. Well, I needed an oil change anyway so I made an appointment. Told them about the leaking of something and the engine light. Turns out I had NO oil running through the engine - I wish now I would have kept driving it because I hate this Jeep! The housing or something was not right so 2 days without my vehicle.

This Jeep has been a nightmare - we've have had 2 other Jeeps - we always lease - with nothing like the problems I'm having now! I've only had this one since September 30, 2013. Wish I would have bought out my last one.....

I got my Jeep back from the repair shop after being there for two weeks. I drove it for two days. On the third day the same issue came up again 3/31/14. I was driving to work and tried to accelerate, engine light came on and could not drive past 40 miles per hour. The Jeep has been in the repair shop longer than I have owned it. I have no idea when it will be fixed......

Purchased New Jeep on 3/2/14 and on 3/17/14 it broke down. The oil pump went out while driving the Jeep on freeway. Engine light came on and it would not accelerate pass 40 miles per hour. The dealership had my Jeep for two weeks and during that time I was told that the Sr. Mechanic for Jeep/Dodge/chrysler at this dealership had never worked on this problem before with this Jeep model. They had to completely remove the engine "From NEW Jeep" to fix the issue.

Second time I have had this problem. Now having to spend another day without a car while this gets worked on.

Check engine light was on for about a month. Took into Tomball Dodge to have worked on. Dropped off at 7:30 am and car was not ready until 4 pm. Told problem was resolved. The check engine light is back!! This is just one of the many issues I have had with my jeep.

Grand Cherokee Limited 3.0L Eco Diesel

We purchased the Jeep and had not even driven off the lot and the check engine light came on. That has now been over a month and the dealership claims it is a particulate matter sensor. That in itself is not a big deal right? Well, it is a problem when the part is on back order and going on a month now our brand new vehicle still has a check engine light on. We are almost to the point of returning the Jeep for a different make and model of vehicle. This was our first Jeep ever and it will definitely be our last unless something changes really quickly.

Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7L Hemi

  • 476 miles

My engine check light came on for the first time in July 2013, with only 766 kilometers on it. Since then I've had it into the garage 4 more times for this same issue. The service people told me that the check engine light comes on because of a multi cylinder misfire, all they keep doing is reprogramming it. This is only a temporary fix, the service guys told me that Chrysler has come out with a permanent fix for this problem ( which was 2 weeks ago now), some sort of flash fix for the computer, but I'm still waiting for this because the garage apparently still has not received this flash fro Chrysler. I payed $60,000 for this vehicle and I am so pissed off that this problem is not getting resolved!!!!
