Hello, I have a Jeep Liberty 2002 4X4. I have been noticing a strong gas smell recently. The dealer found it's schrader valve leaking. I asked them to show me the problem. So, when they tried to start the car - the fuel was pouring from the schrader valve. I was shocked when I saw it. It's very dangerous. I was driving this car almost every day to go to work and sometimes with my whole family during the weekend. I feel lucky it didn't burn. The dealer said the whole fuel rail assembly need to be replaced, and the schrader valve can't be repaired alone! I really want to complain about this. I love my Jeep Liberty. But the schrader valve issue is a very serious problem and it could cause the fire, harm the life! also it does not make sense to me - why do you need to change the whole fuel rail assembly to fix a schrader valve? it looks is a design defect! thanks,

Recently I had major repairs to my 2002 Jeep Liberty. The check engine light was on and it was diagnosed with code PO442. Through the process of elimination it was found that the top side of the fuel tank had deteriorated to the point where holes had formed, causing an unsafe condition due to fuel and fuel fume release. The tank was replaced with a refurbished one since Jeep no longer manufacturers the fuel tank. The repairs were made at a certified Jeep dealership. The vehicle was in the shop from August 1 thru August 7. I contacted Jeep to inform them of the unsafe condition with the vehicle and was given a case number. I requested assistance with the cost of the repairs. I sent Jeep all requested information with the understanding a customer care agent would contact me with their finding. 3 weeks passed and I did not receive a call, I contacted Jeep requesting resolve. A supervisor returned my call and informed me that the age of the vehicle was the reason no assistance would be offered. My complaint with Jeep is they dismissed the request because of the age of the vehicle. I purchased the vehicle in 2008 with 29000 miles. Currently the vehicle has 69000 miles. I find it unacceptable that Jeep places a time limitation on the safety of their vehicles that are maintained to the standard set forth in the owners manual. Jeep does not back their vehicles. I will never buy another Jeep!

Item #1 occupant restraint control (orc). I am chagrined with the tardiness of Jeep/Chrysler motors corporation in their tardy compliance with this recall (12V-527). Originally issued on January 3, 2013, my daughter (former owner of this vehicle) visited a Jeep dealer in Washington DC. They said "no parts are yet available...we will contact you when they are". at a later day (May 2013) my daughter visited the local Jeep dealer (courtesy motor sales, Inc., altoona pa) and inquired about the problem...again "we cannot get the parts, they are not available". I purchased the vehicle from my daughter and have visited courtesy motor sales twice since I purchased (latest August 27, 2013) with the same answer "we don't have the parts available and we will contact you when they arrive"! it is inconceivable that replacement parts are not being made available for this very dangerous problem! at the present time I am unable to drive the vehicle as the air bag light is now on constantly and the recall notes that....."a damaged computer chip could cause the airbag light to illuminate, followed almost immediately by an inadvertent deployment of the front airbags (Liberty and Grand Cherokee)......". the recall notice continues by stating that "inavertent deployment of the airbags may increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash". how many more injuries and possibilities of crashing must it take to get action on this? in conclusion, I cannot understand why your recalls are not being "tended to" in an expedient manner. I am getting "lip service" and you are being ignored. If either of these recall problems do happen, both your organization (for not enforcing in a timely manner) and Chrysler motor corporation (for delaying remedy) will be the responsible parties.

Learned thru internet search that there are 2 recalls on my 2002 Jeep Liberty: (1) unwarranted airbag deployment and (2) possible gas tank explosion if rear-ended. I called the Jeep customer service line and talked to a matt, who confirmed both recall items. He said I would receive a letter from Jeep telling me how to proceed, but that at this time the parts needed to fix both recall problems were back-ordered. So I am driving a car in which the air bags might explode at any time (my airbag light comes on and off at will) and if I am rear-ended there is a good likelihood that my gas tank will explode. What am I to do if one of these occurs while I'm waiting for the Jeep notification and/or replacements part to be in stock" I am afraid to drive my car now, but have no other options available. What do I do"

The contact owns a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that NHTSA campaign number 12V527000 (air bags) had exceeded a reasonable time for repair. The contact experienced the failure when the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The contact was also concerned that the fuel tank failure could occur at any moment. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximated failure mileage was 180,000 and the current mileage was 181,000...updated 08-07-13

There are currently 3 recalls on my Liberty. I have made multiple attempts to get service for these recalls from bcp Jeep dealer in smyrna, Delaware to no avail. I am told over and over that the parts are on back order and we'll contact you when they are available. I have a recall on my air bags-they may deploy driving down the road. My air bag light has been blinking for years, which is a symptom of this recall. I also have a part on my suspension that may break due to rust. That recall is 11 years old and still not fixed. Now I have a recall on the fuel tank, which may burst into a ball of flames in a fender bender. I am currently driving a death trap and cannot just go trade this vehicle in. I want Jeep to take responsibility for these recalls and fix them. I am sick and tired of them giving me the run around. I cannot give you exact dates of when I contacted bcp. I have called them many times over the years. I also tried to contact the Jeep dealer in dover, Delaware and spoke to a very rude individual who was no help to me.

Design problems with windows on 2002 Jeep Liberty. The rear swing flip up window was unsafe. Every time the rear gate was opened, the window would swing open. There was no handle on the window. (must firmly place hand on window to shut) when it rained, the window would become extremely slippery and have to be held firmly to lock. The vehicle also made a loud wind noise when driven at 45 miles per hour. The consumer stated the vehicle did not get good gas mileage
