I've had my 2011 Jeep Liberty for about 2 years now and I've never paid attention to the axle nuts when I rotated my tires - I just rotated and went on. Last month I rotated my tires and was going through and checking all the bushings and brakes and whatnot when I noticed that the axle nuts on both front left and right side appeared to be corroded and flaking. I started to clean with a wire brush and they completely disintegrated to what look like smooth cones. No visible nut or a single stitch of threads. I have no idea how they can be this bad but it seems like it is a common problem with Jeep Libertys? No recall on my models year though. I wash my vehicle very often myself and always clean wheels out very well and anywhere underneath... how can I get this recognized so a factory recall can happen!!!?
