I got my Jeep Patriot new in 2011. The warranty has expired since I have gone over 36,000 miles. Driving home on Tuesday the radio all of a sudden turned off while I was driving. It turned back on after about a minute. This happened for an hour before I turned it off completely myself. Even then, the screen would turn off and turn back on with the Jeep logo coming on like I had just started my car. It did this when I played a CD, the radio, and used the AUX hookup. It quit doing it after about an hour, but has started doing it again.
It is HIGHLY ANNOYING when I'm listening to a talk show or a song and it shuts off for 30 seconds, comes back on, then shuts off again. The Jeep dealership said they do not repair any radios and that they only install new ones. A new radio is $395 and installation is $99. I was tempted to order a new radio right then, but I have a lot of music on the hard drive and do not want to resort to going to the shop, paying money, re-installing my songs etc. Is there any place that can look at my radio and try to fix it before I resort to having a new one installed???
