This problem should have been recognized by Jeep many years ago. Having a large vehicle pass you in the opposite drirection at hiway speeds and having your hood try to pop open is rediculous and a real saftey hazzard. Thank God for the safety latch! I've been in a car when the hood popped open fully, and have seen another do the same. VERY scary situation when driving totally blind.
Before this I would never have thought the tough rubbe tie-downs would stretch so much as to have the safty latch engage. Hood hits the saftey latch with a loud bang each time a big truck passes in th eopposite direction. Its been a very bad 2,000 trip we've just completed with it popping all the time.
