Driving back to NY from Virginia after a great family wedding and dropping relatives off at Richmond airport. Thank god traffic was barley moving as usual on the i95 going into Washington about 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Suddenly our 2019 KIA Sorento started to buck and barley accelerate, I look at the dashboard and there are no lights on and temperature is normal, then it stalls. I start the car and the oil and check engine light come on and car stalls again. I don't know how I made it to the shoulder I guess someone was looking out for me.
I get out check the oil and its bone dry. I had just checked it before heading to airport and it was just about topped off. so I walk about a mile to the next exit after calling AAA for a tow I probably should of called KIA Roadside Assistance {50/50}.. I get back with 3 quarts of oil and start pouring. After the second quart I see its coming out the bottom as fast as I pour it in. Freaking Great..3 1/2 hours later AAA shows up and I get towed to the nearest KIA dealer then uber back to the airport to rent a car to get home for work Monday.
Monday morning I call the dealer in Virginia, and he tells me the Drain Plug fell out and was sitting on top of the road shield, and the motor was seized.. Freaking Great... and is not considered a manufacturer defect...Freaking Great, Even Better... I ask how come I had no warning, no Hot temperature, no oil light, no warning what so ever just seized .How is this possible with today's technologies. no warning lights at all..WTF...I'm a weekend mechanic and have done hundreds of oil changes {not on this car its the wife's and I don't touch} all service has been done at a KIA dealership at home, and I've never seen such a thing. WTF..
1 week and nothing but the run around for all KIA dealers and from big KIA call center is absolutely useless.
