Sorento EX 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 152,000 miles

Kia’s 3.2 V6 has a transmission failure about every 70-75,000 miles! The first fix was under warranty! The same transmission issue is failing again at 150,000 miles! Kia does not fix their transmissions, they replace them at $3,500 cost! How convenient for them! An absolutely faulty transmission design that needs to be addressed! I will never buy another unreliable Kia!

Transmission has the same failure about every 70-75,000 miles! First time it was fixed under warranty. I’m now past 150,000 miles with the same transmission failure. This time it is out of my pocket ($3,500)!

ALERT - Kia does not fix their faulty transmissions, they replace them! How convenient for them!

Sorento

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,200 miles

I purchased my 2019 Kai Sorento in April of 2019 and have nothing but problems since. Soon after I noticed the car would hesitate when accelerating, this would also happen when slowing down. In March of 2020 the car hesitated and was acting like it was going to die when coming to a stop at train tracks, the check engine light then came on. At this time the car had around 31,000 miles. The next day I dropped the car off at the dealership for service. I was told the transmission fluid was completely burnt/black with metal shards in it, but nothing was registering on the computer and everything was fine. I was then told the transmission needed a computer update which wasn't available yet. The car continued to hesitate all the time, I told the dealership this every time I brought the car in for routine maintenance and was told the same as before.

Forward to November of 2021 I was driving on the freeway and slowing down due to traffic when the car jerked and made a loud bang so bad I looked in my rear view mirror because I thought I was rear ended. The check engine light came on again but then turned off. This loud bang and jerking happened twice that day. I then took the car back to the dealership again. It was the same issue the transmission fluid was completely burnt/black with metal shards, but wasn't showing anything wrong on the computer. The dealership finally agreed a new transmission was needed. However my car has been at the dealership now 7 weeks without any communication on the dealerships end. My calls and messages have gone unanswered for over a month now.
