The Issue
?Upon reaching 50,000 km, the fuel door (outer gas lid) failed to open. The lock mechanism remained engaged, making it impossible to refuel.
?The Complication
?This vehicle does not have a manual emergency release mechanism or cable to open the fuel door from the inside. The only workarounds when this happens are either to force the door open (risking breaking the latch or damaging the paint) or to disassemble the interior plastic trim panels in the cargo area to reach the locking mechanism.
?Because of this, I had to take the car directly to the dealership (Viamar / "la casa") with whatever fuel was left just to have them open the door so I could gas up.
The Solution
?To permanently resolve the issue, the dealership technicians bypassed the locked door by accessing it through the interior trunk panels and replaced the faulty fuel lid lock solenoid. With the new solenoid installed, the locking and unlocking mechanism now functions perfectly.
