Could be a serious problem. Now that I've seen another similar complaint, we realize what is causing the car to surge unexpectedly. The other complaint said they asked their dealer and there was no fix for the problem. If you step on the brake, it goes lower than the gas pedal and if you are unaware of the issue, you could be not only pressing on the brake but also on the accelerator. On this 2006 model, the brake and gas pedals are adjustable, but not individually, only as a unit so there is no way for a dealer to do a repair without the manufacturer getting involved.
