All it takes to crack the oil filter cap is a slight over tightening by the pimply teenager at your local oil change shop! In our case a piece of ice from the wonderful Minnesota winters hit the cap and micro cracked it, making it worse was the auto start my wife let run for 20 minutes before leaving for work.

OIL FILTER IS AN ELEMENT STYLE INSTEAD OF A SPIN ON, IT HAS A PLASTIC CAP WHICH CRACKED AND LEAKED OUT ALL OF THE OIL SO FAST THAT BY THE TIME YOU FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON THE ENGINE IS BLOWN.
