We bought a 2013 Mini Cooper because we were driving 2+ hours a day and wanted that great gas mileage. We bought it at 9,000 miles and all went well until around 36,000 miles. We had to replace coils, spark plugs, and rear door latch because it rotted out. The water pump leaked. The engine lights comes on all the time. It comes on going up hills, if the gas cap isn't on tight, etc. It comes on so often that we usually ignore it since it's usually more of an unknown reason. However, the AC stopped working recently.

We took it to the Mini dealership to see what was going on. Rabbits have been chewing on our wires because they are coated with SOY! They said this wasn't covered under our warranty so we had to pay. So we paid $800. 2 weeks later, the engine light came on and the ac didn't work. We went back to the dealership. We come to find out, they spliced the wires and didn't replace them, but they replaced the electrical connection. They fixed the issue, this 2nd time on them. We have 2 other Mini Coopers that light up like Christmas trees too.

We bought the ac electrical connection part from the dealership in case the rabbits wanted to feast on one of our other Minis. $11 for the part. They charged $800 to splice a wire and for an $11 part. We sold that Mini the other day and plan on selling our other 2013 Mini Roadster and 2014 Countryman soon. We were tired of constant issues. Right now, the Roadster's passenger door handle won't work and we had to fix the clogged filter for the wind shield wiper. The 2014 Countryman went though all its oil and the dealership is trying to figure out why it's burning so much oil and why the engine light is on again. We're done with Mini Coopers.
