The cup holder leaks, goes through the bottom and shorts out an electric fuse that controls the gear shifting. It doesn't even need to be a spill - The service advisor says that even the condensation from a cup can cause this. Who in their right mind would design a cup holder that leaks directly above an important and expensive electrical component. Mini needs to issue a recall for this issue. How can they expect you to buy a car and not use the cup holder.
