The contact owned a 2004 Nissan Murano. While driving approximately 20 mph, another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle. The passenger side air bag exploded and metal shards of shrapnel violently emitted from the air bag. The contact also noticed an overpowering odor similar to gun powder, which caused her to have breathing problems. The contact was able to exit the vehicle, but required medical attention. The contact was diagnosed with permanent lung damage as a result of breathing in the chemicals from the air bag, in addition to fractured ribs. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A police report was filed. The failure mileage was 75,000.....updated 08/11/16 **** updated 12/21/16 updated 12/27/16.

Exiting a highway and taking ramp to enter an avenue, driver lost control of the car turning right at intersection. Front left tire hit the curve side and car rolled over 2 full rolls. Driver and passenger had seat bells on. Car body took strong hits on both sides, posts between side windowsroof, windshield frame, hood. Seat bells never locked down during roll over and none of the airbags deployed. Driver and passenger had head, knees and back injuries. It would be expected the seat bells to lock down and at least the side airbags to deployed. Pictures available at your request.

I was driving at 25 mph and suddenly the air bags went off without a collision (right and left curtain and left and right front seat). I've never been on a crash or hit anything in any way to activate the air bags. The "air bag light" has never been on except for now after the incident. Thankfully I was driving at low speed so I was able to come to a stop without any further incidents. Most of all, I wasn't in the car with my kids, I can't imagine how that could be. I bought this car because I thought it was safe. Nobody told me it was going to self destruct in 10 years, popping like a popcorn. I went to the Nissan dealer and they said they couldn't help me because it's not under warranty. Really"??? I'm talking safety here! this is not wear & tear. If I knew I was going to spend 30K on a car that would self destruct in 10 years I wouldn't have spend a penny! this is a safety hazard and it must be fixed. Nissan treated me like if I was the only case even when I could see clearly on the internet this issue has been happening before. So they don't know what they are selling" and worst of all, they (Nissan) didn't seemed interested to investigate this incident. Definitely "safety first" is not what they have in mind. This is extremely frustrating. Their solution was for me to go to my insurance company.

- the contact owns a 2004 Nissan morano. While driving she noticed that the air bag and seat belt warning lights were illuminating and thought they needed to be reset. The vehicle had been parked all day with the window accidentally cracked. It rained that day therefore the interior of the vehicle got wet. While driving home at 40 mph the passenger's side air bags deployed unexpectedly. The dealer stated that water could have gotten into the sensors and caused the failure. Updated 2/22/2007 - the consumer contacted the manufacturer requesting reimbursement but they denied the request.

So he didnt file the police report..none of the air bags came up.I was the only person who was injured.
