CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005-2007 Pathfinder appears to have a widespread defect where coolant leaks into the transmission, causing transmission failure around 90,000 miles. Repair costs are typically upwards of $3,500.
According to the New York Times & a class action lawsuit, the defect actually extends through 2010 model year. More info here.
I bought the truck and was told by the sales manager that the Check Engine Light was saying a problem with the exhaust and he would "clear the code". So he did this and the same day after I bought it it came back on. I took it back and after the 4th visit he had me take it to a Nissan dealership and had a scan done. This showed as a catalytic converter but the tech would not specify which of the 4 it was. The sales manager said he would pay for the replacement of all 4 and referred me to a shop next door to them. The shop had my truck and I called to talk to the owner and found out that it is not an easy fix, the cats cost about $800 each and they were told not to proceed. I went to the sales manager and raised ^%^&. Finally I called back and the "owner" stated that the sales manager no longer worked for them and I asked what they were going to do about my issue. His reply was "what issue"? then asked if I had anything in writing. Needless to say this problem didn't go away. We had 13 MPG and light came on intermittently.
