CarComplaints.com Notes: While there are fewer "radiator leaked into transmission" complaints for the 2008 model year, they are starting to pile up. Buyer beware.
Nissan has extended their radiator warranty on 2005-2010 Pathfinders to 8 years/80,000 miles. However the average mileage for transmission failure for earlier model years is 95,000 miles, which conveniently (for Nissan) is just past the limit of their extended warranty. Owners beware.
My 2008 Pathfinder suddenly started having intermittent split second losses of power while driving. The dashboard lit up, the speakers made static, and the engine lost power, but the power then resumed without intervention after 1 second. Very unnerving of course, especially when one is on the highway.
I have taken my car to three mechanics without resolution. None of these fixes have helped: new battery, cleaning of the battery terminals, replacement of the battery terminals, cleaning of ground connection on engine. Note the alternator was replaced just a few months ago. Now several weeks have passed, the issue has escalated to the power turning off and not turning on again by itself, and not resolved.
