CarComplaints.com Notes: While there are fewer "radiator leaked into transmission" complaints for the 2008 model year, they are starting to pile up. Buyer beware.

Nissan has extended their radiator warranty on 2005-2010 Pathfinders to 8 years/80,000 miles. However the average mileage for transmission failure for earlier model years is 95,000 miles, which conveniently (for Nissan) is just past the limit of their extended warranty. Owners beware.

Takata recall, I've been told several times that my VIN number is not part of the recall. I was recently in accident with major front end damage. I rear ended an SUV in the brooklyn battery tunnel. My speed was approx 15-25mph. My bumper cover, grill, radiator, transmission cooler, fan, fan shroud, headlight, S hood, etc have to be replaced, I've attached a picture. It should be pretty clear that the air bag should have gone off.

The passenger side "airbag check" and seat belt warning light is on on my vehicle several months ago. They are on whenever the engine is on, whether there is a passenger on that seat or not. My car failed to pass inspection because of it. I noticed from the nhtas website that certain Nissan Pathfinder sold in Massachusetts in 2008 are included in the takata airbag recall. However, my car is not yet included in the recalling list. By the way, this vehicle has never been involved in any collision or other accident. Thank you so much for your attention to this matter.

There was a recall on my model of Pathfinder for air bag issues. It was repaired under that recall. At 94000 miles the issue manifested itself even after they supposedly fixed the issue. When there is nobody in the passengers seat the light on the dash will shutoff indicating there is somebody in the seat even when there is no passenger. The air bag sensor on the steering counsel will then start flashing that an error has occurred. I contacted Nissan corporate to advise them that the issue is still occurring for what my recall covered. They did not care they only advised me that the vehicle has already received the recall for that issue.. they then advised me that if 'd like it repaired I have to take it in for repair out of pocket at a Nissan dealer. They did not ask for any info at all just blew me off. I am writing today as I read in time magazine that NHTSA is opening an investigation into the airbag recalls on the newer models and Nissan failed to repair them properly. I am advising you that Nissan's recalls on the 2008+ also did not work, and Nissan refused to even acknowledged it when I called them and emailed them.

Service engine light came on, followed by airbag light. A diagnostic at the dealer showed the "sending unit" on the fuel gauge was not functioning and the airbag sensor was also not functioning. When I googled it, I found several recalls on this year/make/model (on your website). The fuel gauge system will say there is 1/4 gas when it's empty or will drop to "E" for empty when there is still gas in the tank. I now have to use my odometer to gauge my gas usage since I ran out of gas in the middle of an intersection at rush hour a few weeks ago. At the same time the service engine light came on for the sending unit issue, the red airbag light came on as well. So I'm driving around in a car that has faulty airbag sensors and fuel gauge sending unit. The two issues are doing the exact same thing the recall notices describe, yet it's not part of the recalls? I have been in contact with corporate Nissan via email twice now and they refuse to acknowledge these recalls apply to my vehicle/VIN #. I am the second owner of the vehicle (it was purchased via auction in New York) and thought that was why I had not received the recall notices. However, it turns out Nissan will not disclose which VIN numbers were part of those recalls and refuse to pay the repair services for either issue citing my VIN# was not included in the recall notices. Then why is my car doing exactly what is described in the recall notices?

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact experienced failure with the air bag remaining off, the headlight bulb constantly failed, the windows would operate intermittently and when depressing the brakes, the vehicle would exhibit an unusual noise. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times where the dealer replaced the head light bulb and advised the contact that the air bag, windows and brakes were operating as designed. The failures persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where a diagnostic was performed. The dealer diagnosed the failures at the window electrical wiring and the air conditioning compressor. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised the contact to take the vehicle back to the dealer but they would not be able to assist with the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 22,000 and the current mileage was 47,000.
