Rogue LX

  • CVT transmission
  • 169,959 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue. I was driving it on Saturday going about 35 miles and then when I needed to accelerate it would not go. The engine just revved up. I got it home and the next day when I was going to take it to have it looked at, it would not move at all. It jumped and next thing I new I was in the middle of the road and almost got broadsided because of this. I got it to the side and tried to reverse back into my driveway and my husband and I had to push it back into the driveway because it would not move.

Per Nissan: even though they are aware of the CVT issues because my vehicle is past the mileage (not the date I have until June 2018) there is nothing they can do. So, now I have a Nissan Rogue that I still owe on and cannot even drive it. Do not buy these vehicles with the CVT they are CRAP!!!

Rogue SL 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 136,000 miles

CVT Transmission shut down on the interstate right in the middle of traffic at 67 mph. Could have been a huge accident. Luckily Ohio trooper came and blocked traffic. Just prior, It was making little noise, Would decelerate and accelerate on its own. I was hoping to get to an exit so I could look at it but didn't make it to the exit. Towed it 400 miles back home and talked to a dealership. They pulled up all the complaints about this vehicle transmission issue. Plea to anybody out there.. Never buy a Nissan with a CVT transmission. Lots of complains and it will die on you. Go with a ANYTHING but this vehicle. I never rant but I feel like a need to get it out there.

Rogue SL 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 114,000 miles

I bought this rogue used with 55,000 miles, this rogue has had 3 transmissions in it and was getting ready to have the 4th. I read that Nissan has a prob with cvt transmissions, and that they will cover them up to 120,000 miles. Being so close to the end of assistance from Nissan and realizing that this car wouldn't be covered anymore. I traded it in and got rid of it. Beware that with this vehicle, has transmission probs and I heard (and no, I'm not a mechanic, not even close) that the rear suspension eats the transmissions and that's why they go bad. So that made me decide right there that it was going to be an ongoing problem.. Well I don't have time in my life to go and nurse this car.

The sound that I would hear in the car was a loud vibration coming from the back seat, and while it drove the car would mis-shift in lower gears like it wouldn't recognize what gear it should be in. Also acceleration from a complete stop would be slow and heavy, it would take time to actually get to a decent speed in oncoming traffic.my rogue had a 4cyl engine.

I suggest if you buy a used rogue GET AN EXTENDED WARRANTY!

Rogue AWD 4 cyl

  • CVT transmission
  • 107,523 miles

I bought my car used in Nov of 2013. The brakes were bad initially but got them fixed. Car was fine until April of this year, 2015. Transmission gave out, bam, just like that on the freeway. Had it towed to a garage where they said I needed a new transmission. That's when I started investigating the car on every site I could. To my sad dismay I found a lot of recalls on my 2008 Nissan Rogue.

I called the dealer I bought it from and told them that I know knew that they sold me a bad car. They replaced the transmission under extended warranty, and It seemed fine for 3 weeks. Then it developed a whine and loss of acceleration power at intermittent intervals. I have had this car to 4 shops, and it has been put on various diagnostic machines and NO ONE can tell me what the hell is wrong with it. I tried to trade it in but I am upside down on the loan and no one wants the car.

I would like to get another car but I am 70 years young and my credit isn't good. They all want cash down. I would like to spay paint this car yellow and sit in front of DriveTime; until they do something for me. My car is really scaring me to drive it very far because of this loss of power, I'm afraid of getting rear ended. No one wants to help; especially they don't give any consideration to seniors.

Rogue S

  • CVT transmission
  • 41,000 miles

I bought the car used with 33,500 miles on it.

When it first happened I was driving locally when I pushed on the gas pedal and the car didn't accelerate. It happened just for a moment and the car drove fine the rest of the way home so I hoped it was one time thing. A day or two later it happened again, telling me that the first occurrence wasn't random. That's when I researched the symptoms and saw I wasn't alone. That's when I also learned that Nissan extended the warranty.

I took the car in to a dealership for a diagnosis ASAP. They told me I needed a transmission cooler and it will cost me almost $1,100. I balked because I knew of the many people that have/had this problem and I don't feel I should be responsible for a mechanically defective transmission.

I contacted Nissan USA and forwarded my email to the dealership. Thankfully Nissan USA stepped up and said they would cover this repair. I'm still waiting for the part to arrive and to have the car fixed next week.

In the meantime I'm gently driving the vehicle: short trips, no highways and 40 MPH or less. If what I read is true and the loss of acceleration (which happened a third time within July) is the car going into safe mode then I'll do what I can to avoid aggravating the vehicle until I take it in for the new tranny cooler. I really hope this resolves my problem. I never heard of a car having this problem and I definitely wouldn't expect it for a car with 42,000 miles on it.

Rogue

  • CVT transmission
  • 114,953 miles

I bought my Rogue 2 years ago used. Let the nightmare begin... As of 3 months ago I started to notice drag when accelerating from a stop, clicking and whining noises. I spoke with a mechanic friend of mine and he said it was definitely the tranny. I then began my research last night and found this site... Good info. I am experiencing exactly what all the other post say except I have not broken down yet knocks on wood I'm a mother of 3 small kids and god forbid I break down on the highway.

I have set an appointment with the local Nissan dealer for Monday 2/23... Their customer service leaves something to be desired... No loaner vehicles, I can rent a vehicle for the 2+ days they are requiring to keep my car to diagnose it... If they deem it a warranty issue then they will reimburse me for the rental car. Yay me. So my concern is what are the chances I'm going to go in and they will diagnose it something other than what the warranty will cover?! I have already had it diagnosed on the side so I know for certain it is the CVT... Let the games begin.

I will post an update when I get one.

Update from Feb 24, 2015: Well I just called to check the status of my car and of course my findings were correct. Like so many of you my transmission is shot. They have ordered one and it should be here tomorrow (weather) pending. But my friendly service advisor Alex wanted to let me know that my belt ($114), Front axels ($1671.00), Oil gasket/line ($270) and rear brakes ($219) also need to be replaced. No thanks... Im doing everything in my power to trade this thing in and run from Nissan... What a Joke and the customer service regarding the rentals leaves something to be desired... $35 a day for how ever many days it takes to fix it, its covered under the warranty but I have to pay out of pocket first and then send in for a reimbursement... Wonder how long that will take...

Update from Feb 26, 2015: I have my POS back, the tranny is on order but there are none in Texas so they will be ordering from out of state. Most likely wont be here for 2-3 weeks... So after some thought regarding the other issues and having a second mechanic look at the carl he confirmed that my CV joints are bad. Riddle me this... Since the CV joints are designed to disburse the torque from the transmission wouldn't the breakdown of these be caused by a faulty transmission??? Im so angry right now. I still owe 17k on this giant turd.
