After driving for 250-300 miles with stops for fuel and food the engine loses power and quits. After getting off the road and turning off the ignition for several minutes the engine will restart and run for 10 T0 20 minutes until it quits again. This happens on interstate highways at speed of 70+/- mph. This has been happening for 6 or 8 months. The truck has been to several shops and several parts have been replaced according to the ECM service engine codes. Nothing has solved the problem. Took the truck to Nissan dealer for help. They could not find the problem and said they had no record of any such problem and could not do anything unless they drove the truck and had the problem happen while they were driving. I do not know what is causing the engine to quit at highway speeds and at this point neither does Nissan. I believe this lose of power is as dangerous as the GM ignition problem which caused a lost of power. Since I need the truck for transportation I continue to drive it but try to stay in the right lane so I can get off the road when it quits.
Driving to work in the morning rush hour traffic, at approx 65 mph, I experienced my 2005 Nissan Titan shut completely down losing all power to the engine resulting in a loss of power to all supporting engine accessories including the power steering and ABS. I attempted to restart the vehicle while driving, by down shifting to neutral, which failed. Fortunately I was able to find a find a spot to pull over on the side of the busy highway and call for roadside assistance. It was later determined that I had run out of fuel, despite the fuel gauge showing well over 1/4 of a tank of usable fuel. At this point I discovered a recall campaign for the 2005 - 2009 Nissan Titan instrument panel fuel gauge (NHTSA campaign number: 10V074000) and proceeded to call the phone number listed in the remedy portion of the recall. When speaking with Nissan it was determined that my VIN wasn't included in the recall campaign, and an appointment was made at the local Nissan dealership by Nissan Consumer Affairs to confirm my finding and see if they would be able to complete the repair for me under the recall. When I brought my vehicle to my local Nissan dealership they informed me that the vehicle VIN wasn't apart of the recall, but did see a service bulletin associated with that make and model. It was ultimately determined they wouldn't be able to recover warranty money from Nissan, and informed me that I would need to pay for the repair out of pocket. Bottom line, it came down to a monetary issue not a safety factor issue for Nissan. It was obvious my vehicle experienced the same potential consequences as the other 2005 Nissan Titan VIN's in the recall campaign. However, based on my experience in trying to resolve this matter, it is obvious Nissan feels the onus of liability ultimately falls on me as a consumer and not them, if I would like to operate my vehicle in a safe manner. Hi, I have a 2005 Nissan Titan and the exhaust manifold has cracked in the same spot twice now and it is before the cat so that means its now a gross polluter. The problem is you get it fixed and they put the same part back on that cracks again because they haven't changed the design. There are 3 other Titans in my town and all of us have the same story. Also the sway bar mount on all of ours are broke witch results in very poor handling. I hope it can be recalled before something serious happens. Thank you.
We took the Titan to a Nissan dealership for recall service and general service only to find out that the fuel level sensor that was on recall notice is not covered on our particular VIN. Interesting that the $110 diagnostic test I was charged for showed that sensor has failed, but Nissan refuses to cover my vehicle under the recall. By looking at the complaints on this site, I can see I am not the only consumer affected by this issue. Makes me wonder if Nissan is actually honoring any of the recalls for this particular repair. Interesting that after my service date, I was contacted by a sales representative with the same dealership asking if I would consider bringing in my 2005 Titan for a trade-in opportunity. I don't want a new car, I want this one repaired with the recall that was issued to address this problem. I contacted the national office and was assigned a case number and the individual handling the case also declined my request for repair. On that same call, I was asked how many Nissan vehicles I own and if I would consider buying a Nissan in the future. Based on my experience with this recall, I will never own another Nissan. Nor will I recommend Nissan to anyone who asked what our experience has been with this vehicle and the Nissan motor corporation.

The technician diagnosed that the fuel tank was empty and needed fuel in order to start the vehicle. Also, the technician noticed that the fuel gauge read a quarter tank full. As a result, the technician diagnosed that the fuel sender unit inside the fuel tank needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 10V074000 (fuel system, other). The approximate failure mileage was 170,000.

While driving on a highway at approximately 55 mph, my engine stalled. I lost all engine power to my truck, with no error codes, no check engine light. I had to place my truck in neutral while at speed in traffic in the left lane and coast to a safe location on the right shoulder. During this time, I had no power steering or power brakes. After I safely stopped on the shoulder, I tried to restart my engine. My engine would not start. Approximately one month prior to this incident, my truck had intermittently stalled while stopped, with an error code that pointed to an ineffective catalytic converter. I had my mass air flow sensor replaced, my ECM relay replaced, and my catalytic converter replaced, at a cost of ~ $5000 total. I am now told the intelligent power distribution module is likely the culprit for all of these problems, which will cost me another $700 to replace. In researching previous recalls, there is an existing recall for the ECM relay, but not the ipdm module. It appears in other Titan forums that several other people have suffered from the same issue.
The other day I was sitting in traffic for almost 30 min stopped with the engine running (lots of christmas traffic on the 5 South freeway), I put the truck in park because I notice an accident. I had my windows up and my cabin air on. Then a few min later I started feeling dizzy almost fainting. The car next to me saw that I was struggling, came to my window and asked me if I was ok. I rolled down my window and he noticed the smell of exhaust inside my truck. After my headache went away. I went to the dealership and they told me both of my exhaust manifolds were cracked and that's how the exhaust was entering near the front cabin.
While driving down the highway the truck stalled and lost all power. After getting to the shoulder of the highway, the truck still had battery power and wanted to crank to start but acted like it wasn't getting gas. After calling around we determined thru a Nissan service advisor that we should try filling the tank with gas, even though I was telling him it read between a quarter and half a tank. After putting in 5 gallons and turning the key and cranking it a few seconds, it started right up. It has done this at various times since this first occurrence and continues to vary. I now have to keep no less than half a tank of gas at all times or I will suddenly lose power and have to pull off. Nissan has a voluntary safety recall campaign 2005-2009 armada and Titan fuel gauge inaccuracy, campaign id#R1010 & NHTSA#10V-074, but say that it does not include my VIN. I have tried repeatedly to ask Nissan how this safety campaign does not affect my vehicle if it too has the same problem, as I've been told its the fuel sending unit which is what this recall campaign covers.
My truck stopped one Sunday I was sitting at the red light. I tried to start it but it wouldn't start so I called a tow truck and had it towed to the Nissan dealership. On Monday morning I get a call from the service department and they told me my truck was out of gas. I told them that I had a little bit over a quarter tank of gas in it. He told me that they would call me back after a complete check. They called back and told me that my truck needed a fuel sender unit and a fuel ring, I told them to go ahead and repair it. On Tuesday I went and picked up my truck and they explained to me that my fuel leveling sensor shorted out. I paid a total of $515.88 plus $65 for towing on something that had a recall on it. I don't know if they knew it was under recall or not but I would like to find out if I paid for something that should have been covered under the recall. I have my receipts and it shows the dates of the incident came after the recall dates.
Nissan replaced the ECU relay and front fan they installed a jumper fuse into the ipdm and now vehicle shuts down while driving now the vehicle wont even turn over. The battery was drained now charged when I turn the ignition I get zero response from the starter as if the ipdm was blown. The truck shut down while driving like 10 - 20 within a 5 mi trip to get back home.
Was accelerating after coming to a stop at a stop sign. Got up to about 15 mph when all of a sudden the engine died in the middle of traffic. Tried to restart but could not. Coasted into a side street. Fuel gauge indicated that the vehicle still had 1/8 of a tank of fuel. After putting in about a half of a gallon of gasoline was able to get to a gas station. Once truck was full it ran with no problem. A week later I ran the fuel down to the same amount (1/8) where the truck had died before. This time I had a spare gas can with me. The vehicle died again.

While driving with my family, my Titan ran out of gas while the gauge showed 1/4 tank, stranding myself, my pregnant wife and 2yr old daughter in a dangerous area, and in the middle of a busy street. I had to get out and push the truck to a parking lot. I then walked two miles to get 2 gallons of gas, forced to leave my family with the stranded truck(my wife can't walk that far right now). I returned, put the 2 gallons in the tank and it started right up. I called the dealer, which gave me a lousy excuse as to why thousands of these trucks were recalled because of this same issue, except mine. They offered to give me a great deal. 600 dollars for the repair when the part costs $77. Then just last week the truck ran out of gas, this time on the freeway, nearly causing an accident with a semi truck, while showing almost 1/2 tank. Upon researching this issue, I have discovered that thousands of Titan owners are having the same problem and not being covered under the recall. I contacted the bar and after their investigation, the dealer disclosed that all Titans were made with the defective fuel level sensor, and that the dealer was replacing these parts every day, not covered by the recall. To sum it up, I spent good money for a truck that I thought would be a safe vehicle for myself and my family, which it is not. I'm very serious I was almost killed when it happened on the freeway. I have owned a lot of vehicles, and have never ever heard of such a safety issue that isn't addressed by recalls. Basically this truck is a death trap, it's only a matter of time until something tragic happens, all because Nissan will not own up to their faulty parts. In fact they are very disrespectful, and unprofessional when talking to them about it. I will never purchase another Nissan again, knowing how unsafe they are and the way they treat their loyal customers after a purchase..... updated 08/05/14 updated 08/18/2014

Was given a case number [xxx], ext [xxx], was told by[xxx]to go back to the Nissan dealership and have them perform a diagnostic on the fuel system. And then call her back with the results. I did this at a cost of $110 to me. When I call back at the number she had given me all my calls go to voice mail. Fuel gauge bouncing around going from a half a tank of gas to a quarter tank of gas. Call Nissan dealership also company. They said there is no recall for the fuel sending unit. But I see on their website that there is.

The spider gears in my rear differential sheared off, causing catastrophic failure of my rear end. This has been a huge problem with the Nissan Titans, and should be addressed.
My 2005 Nissan Titan is exhibiting the failures as outlined in Nissan NHTSA recall campaign 06V459000 (electrical system / wiring harness) and NHTSA recall campaign 10V074000 (fuel system / fuel gauge system). After reporting my issues to my local Nissan dealer and Nissan Consumer Affairs, I was told my VIN was not included in either recall campaign. Nissan Consumer Affairs finally gave me a case number and told me to have my local Nissan dealer diagnose the truck and provide the written diagnosis and cost estimate to a Nissan Consumer Affairs specialist. After paying $85 for a diagnosis, the local dealer confirmed in a written diagnosis and estimate, that my truck was experiencing the same failures that the 2 recalls cite and that my truck needed the same remedies as outlined in the recalls. After providing this information to the Nissan Consumer Affairs specialist, Nissan declined to cover my repairs stating that my VIN was not included, I did not have a complete history of Nissan servicing my vehicle and that my vehicle was outside the limited warranty term. I knew my truck was outside the warranty term, my truck needs to be included in the recall campaign, which has nothing to do with warranty. Nissan is negligent in not including my truck in the recall. I have seen this same complaint from numerous others in my same situation, on this website and other online forums. The recall needs to be expanded as they obviously are not covering all vehicles affected by the failures cited.
Loud exhaust sound coming from the front, on both sides for the engine compartment. Due to a cracked manifold. I could also smell exhaust fumes inside. I keep the window cracked open when I drive for safety reasons, mostly when I have my wife and kids in the vehicle.
