I continue to have a constant whining sound coming from the rear differential unit at 55 & 60 mph. The unit was replaced by the dealer at 29335 miles because it was whining at 55 mph. The new unit was quit when new but now is as loud as the previous one at 60mph. This sound is annoying & never goes away while driving these speeds. I am concerned it is a design flaw & will either fail when it is out of warranty or cause me to be stranded. I hear a lot about axle seal leaks & diff. Units failing on the Titans. The current mileage on the truck is approx. 35K.
I was driving down the freeway when I experienced a loud clunking noise from the rear end on my 2006 Nissan Titan. It has been determined to be total and complete failure of the rear differential assembly.
Rear axel seals went out on both wheels at the same time with 37,000 miles. Nissan only fixed because of extended warranty purchase. No rental car was given although the defect was theirs.
Had leak in right rear seal, with 28,000 miles on 2006 Nissan Titan; replaced at dealer. Leaking rear seals is common with the Titans, could be related to poor axle vent.
