CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012-2017 Nissan Versa has an expensive CVT transmission failure defect that shows up plainly in our complaint data from the earlier model years in this 2nd generation Nissan Versa.

In late 2019, the CVT defect was subject to a class action settlement. However the settlement only covers transmission repairs up to 7 years after purchase or 84,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

Because many owners commonly drive 20,000 miles/year or more, Versa owners experiencing CVT transmission problems may find they are not covered by this settlement due to the mileage limitation.

The USB port does not play music through it, it can only charge the phone. I took it back to the dealership, who tried to pass it off as a charging port. When I questioned why it was a source on the radio, why the radio says, "Please Check Device," when something is plugged in, and why the manual specifically said that I can play music from a USB device through the port, they answered, "I don't know." I talked to Nissan about this who said that my phone (Galaxy S5) is compatible with my car, and suggested I take it to another dealership. That dealership told me that my phone was NOT compatible with my car. When I called Nissan back they sent me to the regional specialist, who told me that he didn't know if my phone was compatible or what kind of port was in the car. They know the VIN of my car, so I don't know why he couldn't look it up. He also said no one at Nissan can tell me if my phone is compatible or not, because that sort of list does not exist. When I asked him why no one at Nissan can give me a straight answer or agree, and asked him the same questions I asked the first dealership, ALL of the answers were, "I don't know."
