About These NHTSA Complaints:
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
The seatbelt was able to easily become disengated by hardly touching the release. There was an auto accident that resulted in the paralysis and eventual death of the driver. The driver was T-boned while making a left turn on a green light at the intersection. The other driver was cited for excessive speed and failure to keep a proper lookout. It is our belief that his forearm brushed the release on the seatbelt and caused the seatbelt to discharge at the time of impact. I have a video better conveying this, but it is comprises too much data to upload on this form. Updated 10/19/17 updated 7/26/18..
