I purchased my 2023 Nissan Versa on December 30th, 2023. Since then I had two incidents occur where the car turned off suddenly while in drive. The first incident occurred April 15th, 2024. As I slowed down to stop at a red light then my engine suddenly shut off and the oil and battery light came on. After panicking for about a minute, I tried turning the car off and then back on again and then it started up and was working like normal with no warning lights. I took the car to the dealership to get it inspected the same day and the Nissan Service Advisor said that nothing could be diagnosed because there were no warning light. He said that this must've been a fluke because a car that new shouldn't be having that kind of issue. Without running any diagnostics he told me to just drive off and come back if it occurs again. Against my better judgment I listened. On March 22, 2025 the same exact issue occurred again. As I was slowing down to stop at a stop sign, my engine suddenly turned off. I took it to the dealership the next morning they were open and they were unable to replicate the issue after driving it and they couldn't find any error codes in the system after running diagnostics. I opened a case with Nissan Consumer Affairs after the car was given back to me and they sent out a technician from the district to look at my car. They held my car for 9 days and then gave it back to me because they do not have any resolution for my issue. They also denied my request for a replacement because it doesn't fall into the category of warrantable repairs. This is a huge safety issue. I'm afraid that the car's engine will shut off while I'm on the highway or making a quick maneuver and I will not be able to avoid collision with another vehicle. The car is shutting down suddenly without warning and that can lead to multiple an accident and even death. The car is unsafe to drive and although Nissan acknowledges the issue, they do not have an resolution.
Total loss of power. No engine codes stored. Car has very little power you have to floor the gas pedal but still run ok no misses or backfires. Will take forever to get to 40 mph.that is revving motor before shifting manual transmission. Taken to Nissan dealer once no fix. This has happened about 8 times to this car. Dealer had for one week still could not fix it. Could get run over with this issue-??
My vehicle goes into unexplained limp mode. Research says it is a programming issue for Nissan when they deleted the push button start. Very dangerous when it happens.
If you stall the car, upon restart there is a great degree of power loss. It seems like it's the VDC system turned up to the max, where it's limiting engine power, and applying the brakes. It makes the car much slower and difficult to get up to speed. This can cause a safety risk as it causes the car to perform unpredictably. When this happens, in order to reset the system and make it work normal, I need to turn the car off, get out, close the door, then get back in and turn it back on. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" I suspect it has something to do with the ECU/VDC system How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? If I need to get out of the way of something, or need to get up to speed on the highway, in any of those scenarios it could put me at risk. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Not that I know of, but I haven't taken it to the dealer regarding this issue yet. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Not that I know of Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" No.

After I stalled the engine in a fast food drive through I restarted the car. When I went to take off the engine had no power and took a very long time to get up to speed throughout the gear selection. I was almost rear ended because of this. The car did not throw any check engine lights or dash codes. I got home and turned off the car. It sat for about 10 minutes then I test drove it around the block and it was fine.
2023 Versa occasionally loses power. Though the gas pedal is pressed to the floor, and despite downshifting, the car continues to lose power. This has happened about four times since car was purchased new in June 2023. Turning cart off and restarting may or may not interrupt the power loss. ~What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request" We are not sure what is malfunctioning, and yes, it may be inspected upon request. ~How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Loss of power means others may hit our vehicle, not knowing we are losing power. We may not be able to move out of a dangerous traffic situation. ~Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center" Dealer appointment has been scheduled for almost three weeks after requested (long wait for potentially dangerous problem). ~Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others" No. ~ Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear" Warning light came on one time, but went off before it could be read. Driver side visor sometimes falls straight down. In this position, it is not possible to drive safely. When the visor will not hold its position, a person is forced to put the visor against the Driver side window. That might be fine out on the open highway, but it is not safe for driving around city streets. There has been low usage of this visor since this vehicle rolled off the dealer lot 4 months ago. The dealer claims outside use caused the visor to be inoperable. I believe it is more a matter of it being defective.
