Electronic brake control module failure, 2 nd time. Vehicle has less than 46000 miles. I am told this is. Very common problem due to defect in control motor and causes a braking safety issue.
I have a 2018 Ram 2500 with 35,500 miles, [XXX]. there is a well-known issue regarding the anti-Lock Braking Systems which effects 2017 and 2018 models which, Stellantis -RAM refuses to address. My truck suffers from this issue, the ABS and traction control warning lights constantly flicker on and off and there is an audible ding when this occurs. My local dealer diagnosed the problem, and the truck needs to have the HCU and ABS modules replaced. The cost to perform this work is nearly $2,000 since the parts are expensive and there is a fair amount of programming which needs to occur. Codes from ABS scanner: Ram ABS C2200-49(1/2) Stored Anti-lock Brake Module Internal - Internal Electronic C0090-01(2 / 2) Active ABS Pump Motor Control - General Electrical Failure Besides the cost the main issue is that the parts are not even available. I have been waiting on the parts since July 2023, my dealer says the next "production" date for the part is late June. I received this same type of response 2 times already, first for November, then February now June. Last I checked there are over 400 requests for these parts before me. At this point I drive an unsafe vehicle with no ABS or traction control, and I can-??t even get it repaired. I also can-??t use the truck for its intended purpose of towing. I-??m looking for some assistance in this matter. There is also an active Class action lawsuit against Stellantis to provide relief for owners of these trucks, myself being one. My service ABS brake like comes on and off intermittently. When it does I can't use cruise control. We are on vacation and have called to RAM dealers and none has time to look at the truck. I looked on the internet and found that there are literally thousands of people complaining about this. Apparentluy RAM recalled the 2019's for this issue, but nothing before. This is not the first issue that we've had with the ABS brakes on this truck. It has me concerned since I pull and 8000-lb travel trialer.
The ABS and Traction Control lights come on and off intermittently. It-??s a known issue that can cause complete loss of breaks. It-??s linked to the 2017 and 2018 Ram trucks and is all over the internet as being a problem. It-??s a safety issue and needs to be taken care of immediately before someone dies or kills someone else because of an issue Dodge Ram has known about since 17-18.
The service electronic brake control and ABS light keeps flashing and the warning bell keeps going off every time I drive it, It only has 22k miles on the truck. There should be a recall for this as thousands of 2017 - 2018 ram trucks have this problem. Plus its dangerous driving like that.
ABS, traction control, cruise control, 4WD works intermittently ABS and traction control warning flash, wile ABS light is on you can not use traction control ABS system does not engage and cruise control is inoperable. Seen by dealer (benson CDJR) in April and June of 2023 and parts to repair were NOT available. Being seen again as new part is currently available to be repaired 4/6/24. After 1 year of not being able to find a solution for the problem. I have slid on sharp turns, got stuck wile pulling camper due to no 4wd among other issues. Contacted RAM regarding replacement assistance and they denied due to after market warranty. I am still responsible for 250$ for a repair that should have been a recall for Sevier safety concerns by RAM
Service Electronic Braking System error message repeatedly and randomly started coming on and chiming beginning in December 2023. Have tried to get a new ABS Pump and Module to no avail since parts are not available.
For 8 Months, I have had the ABS, Traction Control, and Service Electronic Braking System Lights/Messages illuminated, with endless warning chimes while driving. Anchorage Chrysler has had the truck in 4 separate times - finally troubleshooting the issue to a defective ABS/HCU component on [XXX]. I was told that replacement parts would be available by July 2024. On [XXX] I called to check on the parts. I was told that all ordered parts for this issue are blocked. Now, they want me to bring in the truck again so that technicians can verify -??Step 6-?? pass/fail. At that point, a part could be ordered. This problem started in Sep 2023, and I drove this truck all winter in Alaska without anti-lock brakes. The brakes operate like vehicles without ABS, and will lock up if depressed too hard. There is a class action lawsuit concerning this problem out of California, but they wouldn-??t let me join due to my living in Alaska. This should be a safety recall. I have been told 4 different stories on how this will be fixed over the past 8 months. Every time I check on the status of my parts - they have come up with other things to check before parts will be released. I have a 2018 Ram 2500, purchased new in 2019 and have 25,000 miles on this vehicle. I have been more than patient. When new directives come out, the dealership doesn-??t even contact the customers that are waiting on parts. Like I stated earlier, I called to check on my ABS/HCU that was supposed to be available NLT July 2024, and that-??s when I was notified I needed to schedule another appointment so they can verify the results of -??Step 6-?? before parts will be released. They should have contacted all customers with these issues as soon as the message came out - but they didn-??t. They wait for you to call and check the status, and then give you the news that it requires more troubleshooting. This is totally unacceptable. How much worse does a problem have to be before a recall is issued? INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION A
ABS and Traction light on dash. Chiming of alarm. This alarm turns off cruise control and feels like it applies the brakes at 70 mph. Lots of brake dust accumulating on my rims. It happens some days but not every day. Some days there is a constant alarm chime and cruise won't activate. On 10/24/23, parts weren't scheduled to be released until February 2024. Charged over $100 diagnostic fee for the ABS, traction control lights on the dash. By looking at other reports, this has been an issue for several years. They have known for over 2 years that there is an issue. Why is it taking so long to get a fix in place? ABS is a safety system. This should be a recall. The recall should cover replacing the brake pads and rotors also.
The ABS / HCU ELECTRICAL BRAKE SYSTEM HAS THE SENORS BLINGING AND WANT STOP. Done had this truck in the shop 4 times fir this same problem it quits and starts back but now its on all the time.
ABS light came on several months ago. Trusted local diesel mechanic tells us it's a common problem with 2018 RAM trucks and it will cost minimum $2000-$4000 to fix. A visit to the local RAM dealership in January 2024 advised us that RAM will not have the part available until at least June 2024 and that the fix would 100% be our cost and not covered by any kind of warranty.
Service electronic braking system / ABS service antilock brake system. Both these lights come on and ding, half a second later they are off. This happens non stop, looks like everyone is having this problem. This should be a recall not a $1200 fix. I only have 58,252 miles on my truck. This problem for me has been going on and off for 2 months.
Had a deer run out in front of me on the road. When i hit the brakes the truck didn't stop as fast and pulled to the rt really hard making me go into the ditch. The service abs light is constantly goin on and off before that and is still doin the same now. Scan tool says abs hcu module. I have my son driving this truck at times as well and it is not safe. There are thousands of the same trucks with the same issues i found out now. NEEDS TO BE RECALLED
While driving, ABS system warning lights illuminated accompanied by intermittent alarm. ABS System Failure confirmed by selling dealer, further confirmed via Fiat Chrysler Automobile (FCA) TSB notice "C0020-01-ABS PUMP MOTOR CONTROL - GENERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE." This TSB particularly confirms/advises both the HCU and the ABS be serviced / replaced. The original pump motor is no longer available and per dealer is being re-engineered due to defect. This failure is a significant risk to the vehicle operator, passengers, and the general public and should be remedied immediately at the manufacturer's expense via NHTSA / FCA initiated recall.
2018 Ram 2500 ABS control module and hydraulic control unit is defective. The vehicle-??s information system illuminates service antilock brake system and service electrical braking system repeatedly during normal driving conditions. This is a known issue that Ram/Mopar has yet put out a recall on this defective part. I have contacted a local dealership and was told many times the part is on back order. I do not feel comfortable driving this vehicle knowing it has a defective part that could prevent a possible accident.
It has been over a year since my truck has had the ABS light and traction control lights on. My repair shop has stated that the problem is the ABS pump. However, the part has been sold out for a year now. So I have been forced to drive my vehicle without ABS breaks for over a year.
ABS Module/HCU failure. I-??ve gotten this intermittently since I-??ve owned the truck. However, it seems I-??ve had a total failure now. I-??ve had the ABS light on for 1 continuous month now resulting in loss of ABS braking and cruise control. A 7500 pound truck without ABS is very dangerous.
