Both of the rear wheel bearings were so badly worn they were making discerning noises going down teh road. They had to be replaced, because if they had gone for too much longer there was the potential for the wheel to fall off. It was an expensive repair. I find the vaultd "Toyota Quality" to be a crock of s**t. My 2000 Intrepid has 30,000 more miles on it and has had little problems...certainly not that risked the wheels falling off.
