CarComplaints.com Notes: Beware of the NHTSA complaint data for the 2007 Corolla. It is almost certainly misleading.

The problem with NHTSA data for the 2007 Corolla is that for months on end, the news media repeatedly told the public that several Toyota models have an unintended acceleration defect, & to go to safercar.gov (the NHTSA's website) to file a complaint.

So, the NHTSA received a disproportionate number of complaints about Toyota unintended acceleration issues because of the national news media attention, to the point where now the NHTSA data is unreliable taken in context with any other vehicle that did not receive national news attention.

CarComplaints.com typically receives more complaints per day about vehicles than the NHTSA does, but the news media did not repeatedly say "go to CarComplaints.com to report your Toyota acceleration problems" like they did about the NHTSA -- so although we have less complaint data than the NHTSA for the 2007 Corolla, our data for the Corolla is a far more statistically accurate representation of the Corolla's reliability than what the NHTSA data shows.

The contact owns a 2007 Toyota Corolla. The vehicle was purchased brand new in 2007. Two months after the vehicle was purchased, the factory alarm system engaged intermittently. The dealer repaired the alarm failure. In September of 2011, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. On February 21, 2012, a warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled backwards without warning while parked. The dealer test drove the vehicle and determined that the vehicle was functioning as designed. The dealer produced a failure code detected for the torque converter clutch lock up and recommended that the transmission assembly be replaced. On February 24, 2012, an ECM recall repair was performed. Also in 2012, the contact noticed rust on the hood of the vehicle and small white circles (the size of basketballs) on the rear bumper and trunk. Two years later, leopard like spots were present on the roof of the vehicle. The manufacturer and dealer were notified of the defects. The manufacturer scheduled an appointment with the dealer in December of 2016 for diagnostic testing. The dealer determined that there were only paint chips on the vehicle and failed to include the extensive amount of rust on the roof. The service manager informed the contact that they would use oxidation on the vehicle regarding the rust. The manufacturer stated that the paint used on the vehicle was environmentally safe. In addition, the contact received a recall notice for the air bags. It was unknown if the notice pertained to the passenger or driver side air bag. The NHTSA campaign numbers and failure mileage were not provided. The VIN was invalid.

"takata recall" I took my 2007 Toyota Corolla in for the air bag recall to centennial Toyota in las vegas, nv, the service agent let me know the air bag indicator light still remained on after the recall service was completed. A $ 150 diagnostic charge was going to be applied to find what else be wrong with the safety equipment on the Corolla. I made contact with Toyota corporation to explain the dilemma.(800) 331-4331 I spoke with kristina and was informed that recall situation has been fix and if I wanted to know what other safety issues I might be having with the air bag indicator light being on, I would have to pay for it.. I will get the diagnostic done, and report the other failed safety devices not covered by recall.

Takata recall I brought our 2007 Corolla into pauly Toyota in crystal lake Illinois on April 25, 2016 because they received the replacement part for the recall. In the process of replacing it, their mechanic broke a part and they had to order a new replacement part. It is now Sept. 29, 2016 and they have not received the part yet. The next estimated date the dealership may receive the part is the end of October. As of now my car has been sitting in their parking lot for 5 months. Obviously the end of Oct will be 6 months. The Toyota customer service number tells me I have to deal with the dealership but according to the dealership they don't know what is going on or when I may get my car back. I feel Toyota is not being upfront with information and their customer service people should know more than the individual dealerships. Please let me know if there is information for me. Thank you!

Takata recall: Toyota is frequently mailing me reminders and making telephone calls advising me to take my car to the nearest dealer to repair a defect that could spray bits of metal around the cabin. I am on the "list" at my dealer and they tell me it could be two months or longer before they get the parts. When I called the Toyota recall people today they said at another dealer the estimated wait for parts was 14 weeks. How is this acceptable? I am sure that all of these notices are merely to meet some requirement that the NHTSA has placed on them. Why don't we just fix the car!

Takata recall an observation. We are currently 50th on a recall repair list at our local Toyota dealer, with replacement parts arriving there at a rate of 4-8 per week. The recall repair may not take place until November. Meanwhile, we are driving an unsafe vehicle and cannot carry any passengers. We own three Toyota vehicles in our family but have lost faith in the company and won't buy one of their cars again.

Takata recall - I received my recall notice for the air bags in 2015, at that time I called 1-888-312-5995 and I was advised to contact my local Toyota dealership. Performance Toyota in fairfield, Ohio was contacted. I was told that the replacement part was on order and they would contact me once the part came in to set up the appointment. I contact the dealership in the spring 2015, I was advised the part was on back order and it could take 30-60 days. I just called the Toyota dealership and I'm now being told there is a 12 week/3 month delay on filling back orders and that orders are being filled based on the VIN numbers. I'm now being told that they will call me in October when the part comes in. When I called the Toyota repair & resolution hot line I was advised to go to another Toyota dealership in my area. When I told the agent that all of the dealerships are receiving their replacement parts from the same facility, I'll have the same problem at the other dealership. I advised her that Toyota can't meet the demand, doesn't have the parts in place and continues to put customers off to resolve the recall notice. I was then asked if there was anything else she could help me with today.

Takata recall. I received a letter last year stating that there was a recall on the air bags, that parts were unavailable for the area and to not have passengers in the front. In may I received a letter stating parts were available in my area. On June 22nd I called to make an appointment to have it replaced. I was told it's been taking approximately 6-8 weeks for the part to come in and they are sent in specific to VIN, it is now almost 8 weeks later. The part has still not come in. It's been almost a year since this was originally recalled and over 2 months since I received the letter notifying me of the part being available and there is yet to be a remedy to the solution.
