I bought my 2011 Toyota Corolla from a Nissan Dealer as a used car in 2015 and was the third owner so it has been a clean car. 1st owner was a rental car company so it has been in good shape till now.

It started peeling in small quarter sizes and now with winter here these small quarter sizes are as big as a sheets!! The entire trunk is almost gone and the roof is 3/4 peeled. The hood is not as bad because i put my own can of paint to cover the smaller spots but now the roof and trunk are awful in big huge chucks and daily it continues!!

This is my first and only WHITE car and Toyota and I will never buy another Toyota again!!! Toyota won't do crap either. i sent them the pics twice and all they say is "SORRY' WELL, TOYOTA YOU SUX. I GUESS SINCE THIS ISN'T CONSIDER A DEATH TYPE INCIDENT YOU WON'T PAY TO FIX THE PAINT JOB!!! THAT IS ALL I WANT A NEW PAINT JOB!! IF MY PAID OFF IT WOULD BE GONE BY NOW BUT IM STUCK WITH IT UNTIL I PAY IT OFF!!! !! IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR HAS THE $$ TO DO SO PLEASE LET ME KNOW SO I CAN JOIN THIS SUIT. I CAN'T AFFORD A LAWYER MYSELF OR I'D DO IT!! THANKS FOR READING THIS...GOD BLESS AND HAPPY FREAKING HOLIDAYS.........

Update from May 31, 2019: Sent an email to the CEO of Toyota, currently waiting to hear back from an Estimate from a body shop I sent them to see if they will help repaint my car. A facebook page was started by someone with over 400 complaints on their Toyota, & Scion paint peeling issues. Toyota dealerships are being uncooperative so the emails seem to be the only results we are at least getting!! Will update more later after i hear back.

The paint has been peeling off in huge strips. The roof of the car is almost completely paint-less. Now the hood of the car and the the sides are peeling away(the paint). It is obviously a defective paint job as the car has never been wrecked or been around any chemical plants.

I took it to the Toyota dealership I bought it from to see if they would do anything and they sent it off for approval for warranty work after giving me an estimate of over $2000.00 to repair. I just got word they are not going to fix it, unless I pay for the paint job.

I have had Nissans and Hondas with more miles on them than this with no paint issues. I am really mad about this and will never buy another Toyota again. I had even bought the extended warranty on this car.

I had an issue with the white paint on my Toyota Corolla. It peeled off the trunk. Then I noticed "bubbles" forming on the roof and hood. The "bubbles" are where it began to peel. I went to Toyota, complained about it and one of the mechanics told me there was a factory defect and they would request Toyota repaint the trunk. The Manager was wonderful and arranged for this even though the warranty had expired. Now the paint is peeling off the roof and hood of the vehicle less than a month after the trunk was repainted. They sent me to their auto body place once again for an estimate and I never heard from them. The auto body place also reiterated the "factory defect" and told me it only occurs on flat surfaces so he wasn't surprised the roof and hood started to peel. I haven't gotten a reply since March from Toyota. I call and call and nobody gets back to me even though I have been a customer for 30+ years. All I want is to get my roof and hood fixed. If necessary I work for attorneys and I will have them contact Toyota both the headquarters and the dealership. I don't understand how they can acknowledge the defect and not repair it.

I previously had owned a Honda civic, which I bought new and owned for 10 years. Never had any real issues with it, and even after 10 years, no real rust problems even though I live in upstate NY. I decided I would switch to a 2011Toyota corolla and traded in my Honda which had 150,000 miles on it. Now, after less than 5 years, the trunk of the car is starting to rust in several places. I took it back to the dealership, and they told me there was nothing they could do. I will NEVER buy a Toyota again!

The metallic grey paint job is a loo-loo. Even after hand washing, waxing, and buffing, the paint retains its "dirty" finish. It is nothing like "metallic".

I want to file a class action lawsuit against Corolla because of the paint defect!!!! My paint is literally coming off in large sheets. I have created a Facebook group for people with other issues, just search for Toyota Paint Problems Class Action Lawsuit and join. The more people we have that come together the better chances our issues with the paint with be addressed!

I am making this comment as I saw another complaint of Toyota Camry 2012 about the paint. In April I complained of the issues I have on various car forums and I was really suprised that I am the only Corolla 2011 owner complaining of the paint of my Toyota Corolla 2011. My car is magnetic gray. I bought the car in late November 2011. I December after washing the car I noticed a sticky spot under the driver's door. I was afraid to wipe it. I took the car to the dealership and after they wiped it the paint came off. So they fixed that spot. In spring when the day is longer and washing the car, I noticed something like dust/sand trapped in the paint under the other doors, the front bumper and the back bumper. After wiping the car from the water, even one of these sand/dust pieces came off and now I have a white dot there. Complaining to the dealership again, they said that I am very picky. The car scratches and chips very easily as if from the wind. I wanted a representative of Toyota Corporate to come and see it but the dealership from where I bought the car just did not want to organize such a visit. I tried through another dealership but not big results. Now I noticed I have terrible holograms in the paint. I feel frustrated with this car. Since then I started paying more close attention to the Toyota cars when they pass by me. What I notice is that Toyotas look worse of all cars. Toyotas 2007-2008, even I would say some 2009 -2010 Toyotas look like my 14 years old Chrysler Cirrus, believe me or not! And maybe people are either tired and frustrated or really careless and they just do not complain! That's why probably I was the only one complainig about the paint of my car. And if I get a little more frustrated, I will trade in this nightmare for another make! This looks like the only solution!
