When I purchased the car I really didn't look at the rear head restraints. Because I have had 3 Toyotas with adjustable rear head restraints I assumed these were adjustable. Again, I didn't really note the problem during the short test drive.

I went to clean the rear window the day after I got home with the car and discovered I couldn't remove the head restraints. Because of the windows slope cleaning the window becomes a real pain (to say the least)

The rear head restraints are approximately 5 to 7 inches above the top of the seat. The adjustable ones in my other cars are 2-4. I estimate that the non-adjustable head restraints reduce rear visibility by 50%. With all the emphasis on safety these days blocking rear window vision seems counter-intuitive (think harsher language). This lack of vision makes having a rear view mirror almost useless.

The Corolla S and probably all the Camry trim levels have adjustable rear head restraints. Is Toyota saying that I need to spend more money to make my driving safer? It would also allow rear seat passengers the opportunity to adjust the head restraints to meet their needs.

With all this push for safety why is the car being made less safe?

Toyota seems to be saying that I am not spending enough money to be worthy of better rear vision and improved safety for rear seat passengers!

I do however have adjustable coffee cup holders, a 6 speaker stereo system, unwanted floor and trunk mats, heated outside mirrors ,and the ability to use Bluetooth - which I personally would find extremely distracting. I'd would rather have a four speaker system with a cd player and radio. Toyota could keep the rest and do more for my and my passenger or passengers safety by providing adjustable headrests.

Thanks for listening
