problem #2

Corolla ECO

  • Automatic transmission
  • 2,000 miles

A D V E R T I S E M E N T S

Reported acceleration over hills of Virginia, speed control set at 60, never maintains speed up hill and drops 5 miles an hour and once over the top of a hill, it accelerates to 78 mph. Over a 30% increase in speed which I didn't expect, an officer of the Prince Edward Co. VA issued ticket for $168 and when my insurance company notified me of a $100 a month increase to my perfect driving record.

I proceeded to investigate the speed control mal-function. At all the routine 5000 mile oil changes, I reported the same issue, even repeated on another trip to VA on the same hills. Every invoice from So. Dade Toyota of Homestead, FL notes "The speed control road conditions can't be duplicated."

Nov 9, 2018 I filed complaint certified letters following Lemons Laws of FL to NHTSA and Toyota Motor Corp. Almost two years and the changing of my original Case Number four times to hide the 60 page records and correspondence. A technician was sent down from Deerfield Beach Toyota Corp FL and we tested the speed control issue on the Card Sound Bridge of FL (high arch bridge), The speed was set at 61 and dropped to 56 going up the bridge and at- over the top down hill accelerated to 72+ mph. The Tech's computer was connected to the car throughout the test. There was never any adjustment to maintain the uphill speed and none, Zero going down, on total flat ground the speed adjustment kicked in and returned to 61. This is typical of most Toyota Corolla's if you review other websites. I do not know the decision of the Toyota Motor Corp yet but I am sure they do not want a recall and there are reports of accidents and injuries and possibly deaths.

Toyota and Dealerships are covering their tracks and I will not stop bringing this issue to light as it affects millions of families and there must be a recall of the vehicle. My original package of data, letters and e-mails, invoices, sales contracts, sent certified mail dated Nov 11, 2018 12:14 PM and received Nov 14, 2018, by Toyota Motor Sales USA and to NTSHA Headquarters as well. Copies enclosed of Post Office return receipts to Toyota Motor Sales USA and to NTSHA Headquarters attached. I included all the required documents regarding the LEMON LAW of FL . Original Case #1809071185 opened and closed without notification to me.

When I called 8 months later, to ask what the disposition of the case, the case number was bounced through three other agents over three weeks time and #changed three times prompting the Tech Test on Card Sound Bridge. The Tech told me to read page 237 of the Owners manual which stated. "Speed Control MAY exceed set speed." There are other issues, not as serious.

Corolla SE 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,000 miles

When car crests a hill, large or small, while on cruise control the transmission downshifts apparently to slow the vechicle but the engine doesn't decease power and the vehicle begins to rapidly accelerate. On a small hill it tends to be work often going 7-8 mph over the cruise setting. At the bottom of the incline the car automatically brakes very hard to resume set speed. It's a difficult to control the car when it's applying suddenly and very hard. On may occasions the hard braking has cause the following driver who stupidly are following too close to almost rearend me. Been to Service twice in a month, talk to service write on phone first, talked to Service Manager once. 4 Contacts with Toyota Service and problem continues. I like the dealership. Im not disgruntled at them I just need a dangerous car fixed.
