Highlander Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission

Since purchase, there has been a "hesitation" at times when turning. The engine does not accelerate for 1-4 seconds, which can be unnerving when merging into traffic. When taken in to the dealership for all routine maintenance, this was mentioned, but could never be reproduced, so nothing done. The car is now out of warranty- but very annoying as this has been since purchase.

Highlander Limited V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 13,000 miles

On multiple occasions, when accelerating from a stop or low speed, vehicle hesitates when accelerator is pressed. This is definitely a safety issue as I have almost been rear ended when pulling out into oncoming traffic. I pulled out one day into traffic, and would have had PLENTY of time had my vehicle responded as it should. However, since it didn't, the car coming had to hit its brakes to avoid rear ending me since my Highlander wouldn't go above 10mph, even though I had the accelerator pushed down as far as it would go. When it finally responded, it actually squealed the tires and the tachometer "red-lined." I've taken it in to the dealership and they were "unable to duplicate" and the computer showed no error codes. I no longer pull into oncoming traffic as I never know if it is going to respond, nor do I pass vehicles unless I'm on a 4-lane highway.
