This is a well known problem with Toyota 2GR engine family. First reported in 2005, Toyota issued a TSB on how to repair it in 2007. Yet, in spite of being a very expensive problem to fix, Toyota has done nothing to eliminate to and owners have to spend thousands of dollars to repair it.
Repair requires removal of subframe, engine, transmission and steering rack from the vehicle. 15 to 20 effort hours to fix a small oil leak. $2 to $3 thousand dollars if your car is out of warranty.
Do an internet search for "Toyota timing cover oil leak" and dozen of articles will pop up together with several videos. Terrible design and total lack of follow-up from Toyota to address a perennial problem.
