Recently I got the 10k miles service and asked the dealer's service department to check out the a sudden brake judder development. Apparently, there's excessive rust on the rotors and imperfections in the rotor surface. Interestingly this just started happening abruptly after the recent cold weather. They quoted over $700 to resurface the rotors and replace the pads and effectively told me not to brake so hard.

The problem is that we drive it very conservatively. My wife is somewhat of an anxious braker and tends to hit the brakes a little early and a little hard, but it's nothing extreme and an aggressive driver would put far more stress on the braking system. We don't tow with it or generally operate on very steep grades. This problem developed under normal operating conditions. I declined the repair so that I could research the issue before moving forward. Apparently, there are others complaining of the very same issue at around the same milage on internet forums for the 2022MY. It will just happen again in another 10k if they are replaced with the same parts. It seems likely that this is due to a poorly engineered component, and I plan to insist they repair under warranty.
