While driving my vehicle the dash lit up like a Christmas tree and told me to stop the vehicle immediately. I brought the vehicle to Toyota for an inspection of the ABS system and was informed that the repair would require a new ABS actuator & ECU ($2600), and a new ABS pump/motor assembly ($1600). Labor to replace these two parts would cost $700. $5000 total so I cannot afford the repair.

The dealership initially said it was covered under a recall, but then informed me that the recall did not cover my vehicle. They said that many other Toyota and Lexus models were included in the recall but not my year. My car was designed and built on the same platform of the Camry which was included.

I guess a calculated threshold of loyal Toyota and Lexus customers will have to suffer serious injury and/or death before the organization decides (or is made) to do the right thing and recall this dangerous and unreliable ABS system. Pretty sad for the largest car mfg in the universe.

Update from May 20, 2016: This ABS brake system should have been designed to never fail regardless of mileage and/or year. I'd bet there are hundreds if not thousands of incidents of this mfg's vehicles crashing caused by this defect - just needs a smart attorney to connect the dots...
