CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 RAV4's top complaint is that the navigation screen is impossible to see in direct sunlight.

While certainly an annoyance, it's not a big deal in the world of car problems. Luckily the fix is a $10 anti-glare screen cover.

I was in a parking garage and pulling into a parking space. I had my foot on the brake but the car accelerated (like a roar). I pressed the brake to no avail. I plowed into a cement wall. All airbags deployed. Car is a total loss. Resulting injuries: whiplash, breast bone bruise (line of seatbelt), right ankle sprain/tendonitis (from pressing on brake).

I am so saddened; I had no problems with this vehicle until this accident. I am only thankful that I didn't hit anyone. It could have been so much worse!

My 19 year old daughter was driving home from college, doing 70 mph in a 75 mph zone, when her gas peddle suddenly dropped to the floor and the rpm's went from 3-8 instantly. She immediately braked, and the engine went back to normal. When she took her foot off the brake, it immediately happened again. At this point, she braked, pulled over, shut off her car. When she restarted the car it drove normally the rest of the way home.

We called our Toyota Dealer, Don McGill, who completely brushed us off, and claimed there were NO recalls on her 2013 RAV4. A bold faced lie, there is a seat belt recall!!!! So, we took it to a near by auto repair shop. They drove the car around, and ran a computer check which turned up nothing. If this had happened two months earlier, we would not have purchased a second 2016 RAV4 for our youngest daughter. We are extremely concerned for our daughters safety now! Thank you, Ann Stone

This is a terrible and extremely dangerous malfunction in this Rav. First, the Toyota car company must make every effort to prevent similar mechanical failures of this sort. Second, Toyota company must make it clear to the insurance company involved in the settlement any accident of this sort that the accident is not the fault of the driver of the car, but is due to the malfunction of the vehicle.

Now let me describe the accident. I shifted from reverse to drive at this point the car accelerated out control--no amount of braking slowed the car, it hit the side of building. I was able to avoid hitting several parked car, and two trees and car was only stopped after it was in a pond in several feet into a pond. To say the least ,It was a blessing that no was killed. It is still to early for me to determined whether my dog or I sustain any serious injuries.

To give you some idea of the speed the car was going, my 80 pound German shepherd was thrown from the rear cargo area to the front passenger side of the car to under dashboard.

I prepared to make a right turn to enter an exit driveway. As soon as I took my foot off the brake, my car rocketed into a cement brick wall.

I was not injured (only a bruise caused by the knee airbag). Now my entire front end has to be replaced.

My insurance co. said there was not enough money damage to "total" the car, so now after the body work is done, I am going to take the car to Toyota and have them certify that this will not happen again. I am not happy with the idea of this event possibly happening again.

This car SHOT LIKE A ROCKET into that wall. The Air bags did work really well to prevent me from being injured.

My family has been a Toyota customer for 25 years. I am very disappointed with this situation.
