Fuel tank for this 2019 Rav4 hybrid will not accept full tank of gas. One must top off and potentially spill fuel to get it to an acceptable range. Tank capacity is 14.5 gallons with range of approximately 550-580 mile. Only can have gas fill to about 9 gallon with range of 360 miles. This is very unfortunate for a otherwise good car. It has been on going situation getting worse since last year.
When the 14.5 gal tank is empty fuel tank light on and no mileage remaining showing E you can only fill 8 - 8.5 gal before pump shuts off. Tank can not be filled past that amount. This causes a loss of around 200 - 250 miles from the advertised mileage per tank specified by the manufacturer due to the loss of the 6 - 6.5 gal that the tank can not be filled. Dealership will not attempt to fix, Toyota reports a fix or timeline is unknown and they continue to investigate the issue.
Purchased a 2019 Rav4 xse on July 6th 2019. The fuel tank will not accept a full tank of gasoline. The gauge never displays more than 3/4 - 7/8 of a tank. Attempts to top off leads to fuel overflow. Dealerships all provide a "we've never heard of this" despite multiple class action lawsuits.
Bought a 2019 Toyota rav 4 hybrid xle September 27 2019.. reported gas filling problem to Toyota on December 23 2019 after coming to wits end on putting gas in vehicle..can only get about 9 gallons into the 14,5 gallon tank. When I try to get more gas in it it back splashes and spills out which is a major environmental and safety issue.. also had dealer look at it and there is no fix at this time so they say so have requested full refund on vehicle as one of the dealer options given me. So I have three case numbers. One thru Toyota main headquarters then one thru dealer then another for refund request thru Toyota.. on another note I also reported to Toyota that my gas gauge gets stuck on full after going down properly for 100 plus miles driven then the gas gauge all of a sudden out of the blue goes up over full and its shows well over 550 miles before running out of gas which is miles to empty I can't even get it to after trying to fill it slowly for 15 -20 minutes.... tried multiple resets to help correct but they don't work properly and that was confirmed by dealer that reset doesn't work correctly..
I cannot completely fill up the gas tank. When the gauge shows empty, I can only get 9-10 gallons in. The specs say it has a 14.5 gallon tank, but it is impossible to get that much fuel into the tank. The cruising range is less than 400 miles, far less than what is advertised. I've been calling the dealership and Toyota corporate since October 2019 and am still being told that "Toyota is investigating it"
I have a 2019 Toyota hybrid. The tank can not be completely filled. It can leave around four gallons unfilled. The only way I can fill it is to have the nozzle slightly out side of the filler neck and pump a a slow rate. While this works, it takes time and it is not very environmently friendly.
While feeling the gas, at almost emtpy, I didn, 't went above the 10 gallons. This requiered me to go multiple times to the gas station to fill io the gastank. Moreover, the gas range has decreased from almost 500 miles to less than 380 miles in range from 2 months ago till now. The milage of the vehicle is less around 2,800 miles. Vehicle was bought in August of 2019
When fueling the vehicle, the auto shutoff at the gas pump shuts off before the fuel tank is completely filled. Occurs at multiple gas stations regardless of the amount of fuel remaining in the tank.
Fuel tank will not fill correctly. If I over fill it affects the vapor recovery system of the ra 4 hybrid. Have to be extremely careful not to run out or gasoline.
When fueling, the tank will not completely fill. If you attempt to continue to fill very slowly the tank over fills and you have problems with the vapor recovery system.
The contact owns a 2019 Toyota Rav4 hybrid. The contact stated that the fuel gauge was inoperable. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the fuel gauge failed to register the correct amount of fuel. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.
When the fuel gauge indicates that the tank is nearly empty, my vehicle will only accept about 10 gallons of fuel until pump shut-off. As a result my vehicle fails to meet Toyota mileage range specifications of 580 miles and only makes about 400 miles. Moreover, if trying to fill up with 15 gallons of fuel and going beyond pump shut-off there is a risk of overfill and fire hazard. Koons dealership refuses to acknowledge the defect which should be covered by warranty.
I have a 2019 Toyota Rav4 xse hybrid. I bought it brand new with roughly 300 miles on it and since then have put on an additional 5700. I bought it in November and it is now February. I was informed and researched told me that the fuel tank was 14.5 gallons. Yet, every time I go to fill up the tank once the light has came on, I can only get roughly 8.5-9 gallons of fuel in and then the pumps shut off. I have filled up more than 15 times and every single time at numerous different pumps, this same thing happens. I am able to squeeze in roughly another 2-3 gallons but I have never seen anywhere close to 13 gallons let alone the advertised 14.5. we are supposed to get a max of 580 miles per tank and the average I get with this less amount of gas I can put in is roughly 410-430.
Unable to fill gas tank with 14.5 gallons even when empty. Maximum amount of gas that can be filled is approximately 10 gallons even with low fuel light on. Common issue mentioned on numerous online resources.
The vehicle's listed fuel tank capacity is 14.5 gallons. I have never been able to add more than 9.5 gallons even though the fuel garage was registering empty and the computer was showing 14 miles to empty. Toyota and the dealerships knew of this problem in the summer of 2019 yet continued to sell this vehicle without informing customers of the issue. This problem needs to be addressed.
Our new in August of 19 hybrid Rav4 has the fuel problem that it appears thousands of others do. It has a 14.5 gallon tank, but the system won't allow you to fill the tank. At every gas station, the pump is initially shut off with many gallons left to go to fill the tank. This leads to a situation where you have trickle fill to get it close to full. Trickle a little in, the vapor system shuts it off---and do that again and again and again until you feel you are close to full. It's easy to overfill and easy to spill gas onto the ground while doing so. We started an open case on this with Toyota within a few months of new last fall, and to date they still have no fix for the issue. It appears similar to a bladder problem they had with prius gas tanks some years ago, but they refuse to discuss what they are doing to fix it.
This vehicle is a hybrid. The gas tank is supposed 14.5 gallons. The gas guage never shows as full. The vehicle showed 103 miles to empty so I filled it up. I could only add 7.414 gallons of gas before the pump stopped on the 2nd attempt. It clicked off just a little over 7 gallons. I pulled the nozzle out of the tank a little and was able to get about0.4 gallons additional in the tank before it cut off again. The gas guage still showed as a couple of lines before being filled yet I could get no more gas in the tank. Also, it only showed my vehicle range as 419 miles. At 40+ mpg and a 14.5 gallon tank, it should show over 580 miles to empty. There is definetely an issue with this gas tank. I have attached pictures of the before fill up, after fill up and the gas receipt showing the amount of gas I could get it the tank without risking an overflow. I really have no way of knowing how much gas is in the tank or how far I can expect to drive before running out of gas. I have more instances of this, all showing the same problem.
