I complaint at the local dealers and they do not show any responsibility for this, is a shame for Toyota.

MY TOYOTA SIENNA 2004 HAS ALL THE DASH CRACKED SINCE 78000MILES AND DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TOYOTA HASN'T FIXED THIS PROBLEM. IT DEFINITIVELY SHOWS THAT THE MATERIAL USED FOR THIS YEARS SIENNA WAS OF VERY POOR QUALITY, SINCE BOTH MY BROTHERS IN LAW THAT ALSO HAVE SIENNAS FROM 2004 AND 2005 HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.

EVEN THOUGH WE PARK OUR CARS INSIDE GARAGE, THE PROBLEM IS THE SAME ON THE THREE VEHICLES OF SAME TOYOTA SIENNA BRAND.

TOYOTA SHOULD REPLACE OR FIX OUR DASHBOARD AND A RECALL SHOULD BE DONE BY TOYOTA SINCE THIS CAN CAUSE FUTURE PROBLEMS WITH AIRBAGS, ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, ETC, SINCE WATER OR MOISTURE CAN FILTER AND RUN INSIDE THESE CRACKS.

I HOPE TOYOTA DOES SOMETHING TO FIX THIS SOON! I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE VIA EMAIL BUT HAVEN'T RECEIVE ANY RESPONSE YET FROM THEM ON THIS ISSUE.

I have notice that this is a common problem on 2004 Sienna's, every friend that I have that owns one has the same problem, my brother was the same problem and reading online I realized that Toyota should take responsibility on this issue, is clearly a manufacturing problem.

I'm yet another 04 Sienna owner with a cracked dash. It started out with a small crack that has now spread to a spiderweb of cracks all over the passenger side of my dash. My car has always been garage kept and I've taken care of it by putting protectant on it, using sun shades, etc. I've called Toyota and registered a complaint. I also emailed a complained referencing my case # from the phone call. Additionally, I logged a complaint with the NHTSA on their website www.safecar.gov (http://www.safecar.gov) . I'm taking my car into the dealer tomorrow for an unrelated problem and will talk to the service manager and get his advice, but for now I think the louder, and more we complain the better. This is very obviously a manufacturer's defect and the manufacturer should fix it! If anyone has any success with Toyota please post and let us know your secret!!

Bought a new sienna (2004) for about 63,000 with equipment. Now 2012 has 29,000 miles on it. Never kept outside at all, not day or night. started with 1 crack (had a 3rd party repair 60.00), 2nd long one 120.00 repair and now they are everywhere. Show this vehicle at handicap conversion shows when asked (ppl that spend this kind of money want to see what it looks like yrs down the road). It is showroom new. Have owned Dodge, Chrysler.. no problems. Have a new Honda out that if this occurs they will fix it. MV1 also a new ride out. Toyota will not fix it. They note "it is like new, no abuse and very low miles". Runs go from one side to the other of dash, also front to back and have probably 12 or more at this time. Not like the Toyota ppl to not take care of their PR! Times are changing. Cost of dash 1900.00. Can't do it. Step up Toyota your pushing your customers and PR people away! Local Toyota has seen it and talked with area rep and the above was stated. I intend to show it ANYWAY. That way at least people will understand before they spend this kind of money! That is the right thing to do!

I purchased my 2004 brand new from Maroone Toyota of Weston, FL. This is the second brand new Toyota Sienna I had purchased (2002). I was very dissapointed with the quaility of vehicle you would expect from the Toyota brand. My Dash board began to crack and I mentioned it to my service advisor at Toyota of Hollywood. His reply it was sun and it was normal (wear and tear from the sun).I conveyed my displeasure of the appearrence and quality of product. As months passed and my warranty expired, my dash had cracks throughout the entire dash board, even in concealed places were the sun could not have impact. I then followed up with my service writer who contacted Toyota and they agreed to pay for half of the cost to replace. A whopping $1,800.00 was my responsibility. Needless to say.. I still have the problem. They should pay for the entire bill. I will never buy another Toyota again!

Have always used silver reflectorized sun protector in windshield when parked in sun. This is a $43,000 vehicle. Expected better from Toyota and a vehicle with this trim level. Dealer will only replace dash. (Afraid to ask about the cost!) Asked dealer about having it repaired rather than replaced. No response! Have found friends who have had cracked dashes repaired by 3rd-party shops which do a great job . Some of them had it done through their dealer. This dealer is too stupid to offer that. Will have done somewhere else anyway.

Cracks appeared within about the last 6 mo. First appeared passenger side. Looks like a razor blade made cuts. Car is garaged, no other signs of rotting or cracking further up on dash. I cannot imagine what it will look like if it continues! Have 98000 miles on it and I am recently retired and cannot afford massive repairs.

Out of no where the dashboard started cracking all along the seams that run along the instrument panel, the radio, and the glove box. The cracks run from door-to-door. The vehicle has always been garaged and the dashboard has been regularly maintained. I see where a good number of other people have this same problem. It is an obvious manufacturers defect that Toyota has still not addressed. First contact with the Dealer was no help. All he said was I was out of warranty. Trying to make contact now with a Factory Rep through another more "influential" dealer. We will see if they truly stand behind their product.

Sienna XLE V6

  • Automatic transmission

We used to have a GPS mounted to the windshield and the bottom just barely touched the dash. After removing the GPS, there was a small crack where the bottom had rested on the dash. Several months later, I got in my car to find that the crack had extended to about 10" long. I don't see any other way to fix it than to replace the entire panel, which I'm sure is very expensive, so I haven't bothered asking for a quote.

Same problem with my Sienna. Started with a few cracks on the passenger side, and it has quickly spread all the way to the driver side of the dashboard. This has got to be a manufacturer's defect!

I hardly use my car the first three years (less than 2,000 miles yearly). It was always park in the shadow. The first crack came 3 days after the 3 years warranty expired. Four years later the dash looks like a spider web.

Over the past 20 years we have owned 4 Toyota vehicles, 3 of which were vans. Until the Sienna, I was a die hard Toyota supporter. But given the problems we have had with this vehicle, I will NEVER own another Toyota. The latest issue is the the front dash which has started cracking all over the place. Even in places where it is not exposed to the sun.
