This a systemic problem with this model. Roof clearcoat began peeling in chunks. I called Toyota and they claimed to know nothing about it, had (allegedly) not received any previous complaints. Told me it was likely due to environmental factors. Difficult for me to believe they have had no complaints, since I have seen same condition on numerous other Yaris models around town. Knowing I couldn't prove anything, I had roof of car repainted at my own expense ($450.00). Incidentally, my body shop wholly concurred with me that this was a factory problem. That was in 2014, now (May 2016) the peeling has started on side rails and on hood. The roof that I had re-painted (corrected) with quality workmanship is fine. This is obviously a Toyota problem, they know it, but have done nothing about it because it appears relatively few people have bothered to complain about it, but the problem is definitely out there. We need more people to come forward, and I would appreciate knowing if there has been any news in regards to this.
