overhead map reading lights burn up

i bought this car used at a local dealership to find at a later date that in the overhead map reading lights the plastic around the bulbs were burning and melting to a distorted shape so now i cant even get the bulb out.

the sockets are so burnt up there is no chance of even getting a new bulb in or to work!

this in my opinion is a fire and safety issue and should be addressed by Chrysler and should be repaired as a malfunction in the electrical system.

at times i did smell burning plastic which could have started a fire in the overhead panel and could have destroyed my cars interior.

Town & Country 3.8L

the map reading light in the overhead consol over the rear view mirror stopped working for the same reason due to the bulbs were overheating and burning the plastic surrounding them.the plastic is all distorted and replacing the bulb is impossible because it is destroyed by heat.

this in my opinion is a fire and safety hazzard and should be addressed by the chrystler corp and fixed as a faulty system.

the interior could have started on fire which would have meant a total loss.
