not really a rant just wondering how to fix this problem sometimes because my road leaving my house is a long reverse out, sometimes the reverse when shifting to drive it will get stuck in neutral even though it goes to drive but only on occasion its a very durable suv and has gotten me out of a lot of pickles. how and what do you suggest i do?

i don't know how to explain it but trying my best. i have ford explorer 1997 when i drive its giving me weird noise. it runs smooth like no gear change problem but when i pull gas noise comes like fan rotating with high speed ( but no effect on speed seemed like transmission is ok) but suddenly when i press accelerator noise goes keep doing that. after few days when i put in reverse gear and it wont go in reverse and giving me same noise then i have to change to parking then then put in reverse again. i went to few mechanics some says its a pump some says transmission, some says rack and pinion. what should i do
