No power steering and a loud popping sound when ever I turned the steering wheel to the right. Just had the front suspension lower control arms replaced at mileage of 112477. The faulty steering warning light came on and it appears this is a problem Ford has had since 2011 on the Ford Explorer. I have read on the internet this is not an unusual problem with the 2015 Ford Explorer, so why has this issue not been required to be included in recall order?? I almost hit another car on a wet rainy night and I was going straight. Lack of steering control when driving 65 mph is a deadly event. Will contact dealer that serviced the front suspension to hear their side of the story.

My steering failed as I was traveling with my grandkids on a local Suburban road. It took all my effort to steer the truck back to my home. This was very dangerous as the steering would also freeze and lock in one position. I had it repaired at my Ford dealer. Total cost: $2,107! this is a serious safety issue that the manufacturer should cover! I have 85,000 miles on my Explorer.

While driving on a local Suburban street, my power steering went out. It felt like it was in a manual mode and it was extremely difficult to get back home.. my two grandchildren were in the car, and this situation put us all in a dangerous situation. I managed to get the car to my Ford dealership and after assessing the situation, they determined that the power steering rack failed. This resulted in, not only my losing the use of the vehicle over the weekend, but an extreme bill, of $2107!

Ford is taking appointments for recall replacement of orignal recall part but then when you show up to dealership being told no idea when parts will be in due to covid, recall notice said this is safety issue but we are told to keep coming back next year; should not they tell us prior to taking off work and coming in that recall notice is joke and plans are not until next year to potentially fix? Ford Corp was just as useless as far as being proactive and when this can be fixed. It should not be job to police Ford to see when parts are in and not sure why you did notice if can not be repaired, recall notice 20V-675. I understand covid delays but as essential worker who will be driving this car to work every day seems a crazy way to run recall. If in crash at least I am on record to all of you.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact was a car dealer who had just purchased the vehicle and was driving at 35 mph. The left rear toe link suddenly snapped. The vehicle slide sideways until the contact was able to straighten out the steering wheel and safely pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the left rear tire was pointed outward. The right rear toe link had almost split as well. The manufacturer said a recall repair was done on the toe links last year but they refused to repair it again. The failure mileage was 95,446.

Without hitting potholes or barely even driving the car due to corona. Now the axel decides to give up. Driving to an appointment I went to turn into the parking lot and huge crackling sound came from the driver side axle. Online it says it seems to be a very common problem.

Popping/knocking noise when turning at low speed, gradually get getting more severe over time. In addition there have been instances where the car has not turned as the steering wheel is moved. Ford garage has diagnosed this as a steering rack and pinion unit problem. With on 40K unacceptable early failure of this component with a $3,000 repair cost.

Rear tow link snapped while wife was driving on interstate at 70 mph, lost control, fishtailed across traffic lanes before regaining control and pulling over. Wife was scared to death. Had towed to Ford service center. Told it was a recall issue, repaired free of charge. Repaired and picked up the car. Two days after repair, 7 year old grandson and I were driving 65 mph on hwy when rear tow link snapped again, lost control, fishtailed across traffic lanes before regaining control and pulling to side of highway. Grandson and I were terrified. Towed to Ford service center, repaired toe link and replaced rear tie rods. Told the tie rods where so wore out that vehicle was unsafe to drive. No mention of tie rod issue from previous service center. Picked up car after all repairs completed. Four days after picking up vehicle, rear toe link snapped, while same 7 yr old grandson and I were driving North on interstate at 75 mph. Lost control, fishtailed across busy traffic lanes, crossed the median and hit reflector post on the edge of the southbound lane before regaining control narrowly missing on coming traffic. Reflector post hit an oncoming car causing damage to the drivers door and side mirror. Grandson and I are in shock, scared to death as we almost hit a car head on. Car towed to same Ford service center for repair. When we went check on car was told by the staff that he would give me the keys very hesitantly because he felt the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Did not take car because we are terrified to drive it as we have almost died while driving on three separate occasions. All within 400 miles of driving. Have yet to take possession of vehicle. We are now stuck with a vehicle, and a loan, that we are too afraid to drive. I've had to see my therapist to discuss the level of stress, anxiety and fear. Grandson will not get in a car alone with me as he is to afraid.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at 10 mph, she had attempted to make a left turn and lost complete control of the power steering as the traction control warning message appeared on the instrument panel. The contact had the vehicle towed to Kia of duluth (1701 w Michigan St, duluth, mn 55806) where the contact was informed that the vehicle was subjected to a recall. The vehicle was then transferred to northstar Ford (1420 miller trunk hwy, duluth, mn 55811) and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not subjected to a recall and that the vehicle would have to be repaired out of pocket. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. Upon investigation, the contact linked his failure to NHTSA campaign number: 19V435000 (suspension) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.

Driving at 20mph over a bridge, my toe link snapped, causing me to lose control and veer off the road losing control. I lost complete control over my steering and tires remained turned, losing all control and ability to drive. The toe link was serviced because there was a recall. However, this was the second time the toe link was fixed on this vehicle. Now, only months after purchasing this vehicle, there is another issue regarding the toe link and bushings. Ford and dealership refuse to cover the charges because recall has already been serviced. My concern is that the problem will be fixed temporarily for a fourth time and will snap as I am going faster speeds than the 20 mph I initially lost control at. There needs to be another recall on my already recalled part, otherwise there will never be any safe driving distance in this vehicle.

There was a recall on my 2015 Ford Explorer for the toe link suspension replacement. I had ot fixed on 1/7/20 and on 2/14/20 I was driving on 106 in springfield Vermont doing 50 miles per hour and the toe link suspension they replaced broke and I lost total control of my SUV. All most had head on collision I was almost killed. I had it towed to Ford dealership and they took it apart again and stated that the reason the toe link suspension continues to break is due to the nuckle and bushings. And Ford corporation said it was not covered and there for I was responsible for the repairs and total cost. Which is $2,411 I do not have that kind of money. My SUV is still at Ford dealership. Need help resolving this issue and get my SUV fixed as it is there cause of the breakage. Please tell people not to drive there vehicle if there toe link suspension is bad cause when it goes you have no control of your steering. And you never know when its gona happen. It's like sliding on ice side ways. Very scary. Never want to go though this ever again. This happen on a busy street with on coming vehicles that some how I didnt have head on collision. I do not have pics as my vehicle was towed to Ford dealership. Hide tire on passenger side pointed out and would drive side ways and that's what I was doing at 50 miles an hour. Not a good feeling

When we turn the wheel to the right it has a loud popping noise during driving or stationary its progressing from a popping and something the steering wheel gets stuck. Told by two different mechanics that the popping noise has to do with strut and cv joint and electric steering gear and rack and pinion going bad. Our Explorer only has 91000 miles. Both mechanics say this is odd that this is going on for a 2015. That we should check for recalls.
