Huge win for car owners! All TSBs to be made public. The Center for Auto Safety just made the NHTSA (US Government) make public the full text of all TSBs from now on. They are the same organization that has petitioned the NHTSA & filed lawsuits to protect car owners over exploding gas tanks & other major safety issues. Whenever you drive in your car, you are safer thanks in part to a lot of work over the years by this small but very effective consumer advocacy group.

Please take a moment & say thank you by donating $5 or whatever you can to the Center for Auto Safety. Notes: The 2004 Honda Accord suffers from widespread transmission failure & problems with the stereo backlight failing. We recommend avoiding this model year like the plague.

The transmission begins slipping & eventually has to be replaced, typically soon after 90,000 miles & with a repair cost of over $2,000. Transmission failure has been a huge problem for the Accord & several other Honda models all through the early 2000s model years. Honda extended the transmission warranty to 93 months/109k miles for the 2000-2001 Accord as a class action lawsuit settlement, but owners of other Accord model years with transmission problems are out of luck.

The stereo backlight problem has been an issue ever since these Accords were only a few years old. Honda eventually issued a recall which covered the repair for 7 years/100k miles, which was nice while it lasted but now that period is over. Honda initially replaced the entire radio ($800) but eventually began replacing just the PCB which at ~$300 is much cheaper. That sounds like a deal, but keep in mind we're talking about a backlight bulb that costs $2 to fix in most other cars.

Takata recall on July 19, 2016 my wife was returning from a luncheon about 2pm on hwy 111 on a sunny, dry afternoon following traffic within speed limits when to the best of her recollection the air big exploded causing physical damage to my wife. She lost control of the vehicle and ran into another vehicle' this accident resulted in the total loss of the Accord. About six or eight weeks ago I took the Accord in to the Honda dealer in cathedral city and requested that the air bag be inspected as a was aware of a recall on this vehicle in May 2016. I was told that the air bag was safe and nothing was done on the car. I have reason to believe that the recall work on this air bag (replace parts) should have been done by the dealer and this accident would not have occurred.

In spring 2014 I contacted us govt National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. At which time they indicated that Honda had an open investigation for air bags automatically deploying. The lady on the phone told me to call Honda and make I report which I did. Honda had me contact the local dealership which indicated that it would be $395 to investigate the issue. I got back of hold of Honda & told them I would not pay for them to investigate their air bag almost killing my daughter, when the airbag deployed whilst driving, not hitting anything. Fortunately for her, it was a slow speed when this occurred and she was not hurt. Today I stopped at Honda cortland oh apostilakas, I didn't get a written estimate. Honda wants to charge me over $1600 in materials and an indeterminate amount of work hours to perform the labor. Air bag disables the heater and other functions on the car, thus it needs replaced or provide a solution to use my car again.

Takata recall of air bags. How can I know if my car is in danger of killing me or my precious granddaughters if my car is in an accident and the air bags deploy? please advise on any new developments. I have had the airbags replaced on a recall already, but have heard that there is a problem with the replacements.

Takata recall: My car was purchased in college station, Texas and spent its first eleven years in austin, Texas where the heat and moisture was prevalent as alleged in the reports of causes for failures of the takata airbags yet my car is never listed in the recall lists. And with the recent urgings of the NHTSA for older vehicles from that region being among those in most urgent need of having the airbags replaced I am considering having them replaced anyway at my own expense. My questions are: Will I be reimbursed when my car is finally recalled and why isn't my car included in the recalls?

"takata recall" my local paper stated that you have declared all Honda air bags to be unsafe, particularly those for 2004 Honda Accord located in the high heat and humidity associated with Florida. I have contacted Honda on two separate occasions and have been told that my car is "completely safe". I don't feel safe and would like to know what NHTSA is doing about this situation. Thanks

Takata recall, I got in contact with Honda Corp about recall on airbags and Honda told me that my VIN number was not on the recall, I told them that my air bag light was on and they told me to go have it fixed at my expense, so I did not not take my car in for the recall and like a month after I contacted them, my wife was hit in the front end of car and the passenger side air bag deployed and the accident was not not even a hard compact accident, I'm glad no one was in the passenger side of the car in the accident, its very sad to see see a company like Honda Corp, not take responsibility for there actions and put peoples life in danger

I was in a parking garage and pulling into a parking spot. I was within 2 feet of the concrete wall and foot over break when my car accelerated with enough force to deploy the airbag and push the frame into the radiator. It happened so fast, I tried to brake but it was over within seconds. I could not have been going more than 2mph or less as I did not even have foot on gas.

Takata recall: I had an accident in which my Honda Accord hit a tree at about 40 mph after sliding off of the highway due to ice and the driver side air bags did not deploy! the hood was blown off and there was engine damage, but the air bags did not deploy. The air bags were recently replaced by brown's Honda in arlington due to the "takata recall". they clearly either didn't replace them or didn't install them correctly.

Takata recall. I am trying to find out if I have takata air bags in my 2004 Honda Accord and why it has not been recalled. I wrote american Honda motor co., automobile customer service in torrance, ca and all they would tell me in a phone call is my 2004 Honda Accord is not included in the recall and to contact the NHTSA for information as to why my 2004 Honda Accord is not in the recall. Does my vehicle have takata air bags" if it does why is my 2004 Honda Accord not included in the takata air bag recall? Honda said I should take my vehicle to an authorized Honda dealer and pay to have it inspected if I want to know what kind of air bags are in my vehicle. I see that 2004 Honda Accord are included in the list of affected vehicles for the takata air bag recall - why have I not been notified of the recall? I bought the car new and have been the sole owner. Is my 2004 Honda Accord safe to drive"

My daughter was driving my 2004 Honda Accord and was traveling at about 30 mph. She had my 12 yr old in the passenger seat and got too close to the edge of a road that didn't have a shoulder. It pulled the tires off and she overcompensated swerving back onto the road. There was another car coming so she swerved back towards the ditch and hit a power pole head on. The airbag on drivers side deployed but slowly and with very little force at all. My daughter described it as falling out and barely inflating. However, the other daughter's airbag shot out hard and fast and caused her to break a bone in her rt dominant hand. She had to have surgery on that knuckle/finger using three pins. They had to eventually go back and do surgery to remove them since they buried under the skin. I was completely unaware that there was a recall on the airbags since I wasn't the original owner of the car.

Takata recall NHTSA lists the vehicle as subject to the Honda recall. Honda currently does not list the vehicle as subject to the recall. Vehicle was purchased in South Florida, always driven in Florida. The SRS light is continuously activated whenever the vehicle is used. Local Honda dealer is aware of the problem, has failed to act. Honda dealer has had this problem noted on the vehicle's service record as "primary item concern" in January, 2013.

I've been trying to get a local Honda dealership to repair the recalled part since March 2015. I've been repeatedly told that no parts are available and will not be available any time in the foreseeable future. Every time I drive the car I worry that I will die due to the defective part which Honda refuses to send to any of my local dealerships.

Though 2004 Honda Accord are being recalled due to deadly airbag malfunctions, and though Honda was initially adding cars to the recall list by customer request, Honda has refused to add my 2004 Honda Accord to the vehicle recall list and replace its airbags. A second 2004 Honda Accord, that I purchased the same year from the same dealership and later sold, is on the recall list, which adds to my valid concerns that Honda's recall list is not complete or accurate, especially considering Honda has continued to add new VIN numbers to the recall list over the past year. Although I called Honda's recall hotline, they failed to show any concern for my personal safety and refused to replace my airbags. Honda has caused many senseless deaths by refusing to adequately and promptly address the airbags defects in its cars, and it is unfathomable to me that they would continue on their course of deadly apathy.
