CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013-2014 Honda Accord is showing signs of an electrical problem with the starter failing soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. It's compounded by reports that the OEM battery doesn't have sufficient amps to start the V6 reliably after a year or two.

For now we are rating this problem with the "Beware" seal because it's occurring so soon after the 36K mile warranty expires. The upshot is when your Accord won't start, that's never good, but especially bad when it's just a few years old.

Also once again, owners are complaining that the 2014 Honda Accord seats are uncomfortable. Uncomfortable seats has been a significant complaint with the Accord since the 2008 model year.

Hesitation upon acceleration. Also a miss. Don't know what the repair is. Looking for a solution.

Plugs look good, everything else seems good.

Accord EX-L

Just crazy to think that from the factory this car had problems with the transmission. I would no longer recommend the Honda Accord to anyone I know.

Accord ES 4

  • CVT transmission
  • 44,000 miles

There is SEVERE hesitation on heavy acceleration, such as - accelerating on an on ramp. Severe jerking is experienced as the car stops accelerating and starts again. This does not happen under mild acceleration conditions. Everything else seems normal. The severe hesitation happens in both low speeds and higher speeds when under maximum Acceleration.

Everything else seems normal.

lag in acceleration from start

Since buying the car brand new, seemingly in cold weather 20 degrees and below, when you start accelerating from a stop every now and then you'll step on the gas and nothing will happen immediately and then all of a sudden the car slams forward very quickly. It throws you back and is very alarming. From there the car then drives fine.

I've had 2 dealers look at the issue and some say that this is just expected for my year, model of car (which is alarming if it WAS built this way. Others say it's definitely not right but then can't duplicate it and send me home.

Recently a dealer performed a software update (PGM-FI) and said maybe that would help but with no certainty.

I've owned only Hondas for 21 years with no major issues. This car being brand new and having this issue, it's really disturbing and I greatly regret ever buying it. If I wouldn't have to pay sales tax on another car I would have sold my 2014 accord a year ago.
