2006 Acura TL dashboard cracked on the passenger side from the glove box along both sides of the airbag to the windshield, with adjacent cracks. These cracks are a safety concern to me as I believe in the case of an accident the airbag will deploy through the weakest link, I.e., the airbag will attempt to find its way through the crack instead of where it normally goes! I trusted in acra as I have an Acura MDX as well. Also the homelink system was draining the battery and always caused starting issues.

My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.

Last week I notice a tiny crack about 1/2 inch long on the dash over the area where the passenger air bag is located. Within two days the crack had spread to approximately 12 inches long along the right side of where the air bag is located. You can also see a slight rectangular indent around the area where the airbag is located. I am extremely concerned that this may cause problems with the deployment, or even untimely deployment of the air bag, which could cause serious injury. I have also noticed, via internet research, that this is becoming an epidemic with this make, year and model. Apparently, this is an extremely costly repair. Please research and pursue Acura for a response. Thank you.

The dashboard is cracking on right side where the front passenger airbag is located. My vehicle is garaged, has low mileage (56K), I bought the vehicle new and it has not been involved in any collision. This defect is a serious safety concern and it is clear from all of the complaints online that the cracked dashboard problems around the passenger airbag area has been widespread on this model for years and Acura/Honda is still not properly addressing the problem by offering to replace the dashboards at no cost to consumer. When I contacted the dealership service center today, they informed me that there is no open recall for this problem and they did not think it would be covered under any warranties.

I know there have been issues with the airbags in certain models of Acura and that some of these cars have been recalled. I have a 2006 Acura TL and cracks have formed on the outer area of the passenger airbag. As of this moment, my car is not one of the cars listed in the airbag recall, but I worry about the safety of my airbag since something is causing the dash to crack. I'm afraid if the cracks get big enough, there might be some issues in the deployment of my airbag.

As so many others have stated, dashboard has developed wide cracks on both sides of the passenger airbag from the window to the glovebox. Surely these cracks cause weakening of the dash which could potentially cause incorrect airbag deployment. NHTSA, please require Acura to resolve these potential safety issues.

Within 12 hours of being parked in the drive way over night, a crack appeared in the dashboard around the passenger side airbag. It was not caused by any trauma or impact. I am concerned that the alteration in the structure of the dash will affect the deployment. It may also allow further compromise to the internal components by being an open system. Furthermore, I am concerned that this is a result of increase in pressure internally as opposed to a dash defect. Could this lead to a spontaneous deployment? this year model is not included in current airbag recalls. Those recalls do cite high humidity areas as a source of concern and I am definitely in a high humidity area (90-100% routinely).

Crack in dash board over the passenger side airbag. I feel this is an extreme safety issue in that the airbag may deploy without impact. This should be repaired as a manufacturer defect. The dealer wants $2000 to replace dash.

Dashboard over the passenger side airbag split open, exposing airbag cavity. Dashboard is now further splitting and I am concerned that the airbag may be damaged by exposure to sunlight, uv rays and/or dust that may now enter the airbag cavity. Additionally, I am concerned about safety and additional debris caused by the split airbag cover in the event the airbag does deploy. I have tried to discuss this issue with Acura, but they have declined to repair the dashboard.

Dashboard began to crack around the passenger dash airbag hole. This is a known manufacturer defect. This should be a safety concern as it relates to the proper deployment of the airbag in emergency situations. Airbags are intended to be deployed through the dashboard port. That port is designed to be the path of least resistance for the airbag. Deployment of the airbag in an unempeded path is important when a successful deployment is required. The cracks in the dashboard may result in an airbag deployment deflection away from the occupant within the milliseconds required to deploy and that which maybe necessary to prevent unnecessary injury to the occupant. The cracks may also result in flying debris that could injure the occupant upon airbag deployment.

There are four long cracks developed on the dashboard that surrounds the passenger side airbag and above the driver side console. We are concerned whether these crack will impede the functionality of the air bags.

2006 Acura TL? whyyyyy is my dashboard cracked everywhere. Is this even safe. Same as all dashboard crack at airbag. I will let spend my extra time letting everyone know not to buy from Honda/Acura they do not stand behind their product. There needs to be a recall on the dashboards.

My passenger side dashboard has a crack approximately 12-18 inches long that appears to outline the air bag door. I am concerned that this could reduce the resistance of the airbag when it deploys, therefore increasing the force with which it deploys into the passenger compartment.

Passenger side dash board has developed two 18" horizontal cracks which appear to outline the airbag area. I was surprised to see that my car is not on the recall list. I am terrified the airbag will deploy without cause and injure a passenger.

I was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden my drivers side curtain air bags and drivers side seat air bag deployed for no reason. I took it to the nearest Acura dealership the next day and every person there was shocked to see air bags deployed with no signs of impact. I opened a case with Acura corporate and they sent their own representative to investigate and concluded that rotor dust plate has a mark due to some type of impact. They then referred me to my insurance to file a claim. I filed a claim and my insurance sent 2 separate adjusters to inspect the car and could not find any substantial impact to cause the air bags to deploy. They denied my claim as mechanical failure. I've since tried to reach back out to Acura corporate but they informed me they have done their investigation and stand firm on their findings. I have re-iterated what my insurance has concluded but they have gone as far as to tell me a simple pot hole could have caused the airbags to deploy. I believe in some cases where a substantial impact could cause this, but this was not that case. I did not hear/feel any type of impact that day and all of the mechanics and service manager at the dealership are shocked that Acura has not stepped up to take responsibility for this defect. I did have have some abrasions on my chest from the seat belt locking up, but feel since no substantial injury occurred they are not taking this seriously.

My daughter was proceeding up ramp to merge onto interstate and she hit a pothole the tire deflated later down the road. Then after 30 minutes the airbag deployed in passenger seat and up right side passenger side curtain. I took it to Acura they said they could not find a reason for the airbags deployment. I found it interesting because a truck had backed over her the prior yr and did over $4000 dollars worth of damaged. When we got the car back the Acura body shop had charged us for a radiator replacement which they did not do, they had left the wiring to the bluetooth and other things unplugged. The ac wasn't working. I ended up taking it back 4 times. I guess my thing is I feel that either in light of the new accusations with the airbags, was the airbags faulty, or was this negligence on the auto body shop. I have purchased 3 Acura from this dealer and have had nothing but trouble in the last 3 yrs with them. I will no longer be going to them because now the same car where I took the very next day to fix where the airbags deployed gave me an estimate of almost $5000 to replace the airbag. I purchased 4 new michelins and had them rotate and balance and have had them do this 3 times since only to find out the whole time that my rim was cracked and this why air was leaking out of the tire which I questioned each time I went to get the oil changed and only when I insisted on them checking the rim over again in front of me, wow now there is a cracked rim and that has been the reason. I feel in my heart this is faulty equipment and they should be liable.

I was driving West on the turner turnpike in Oklahoma. Not a hot day nor cold. I heard a pop of sorts and wasn't sure just yet where it came from. But it sounded like it came from the dash. I eventually see a small crack around my front passenger airbag on the right side. Well in less than a month it was gone from front of the dash (near the windshield) to the back. Now the dash looks like 2 separate pieces. The concern is that this is a safety issue. If you pry up a little the dash where it is cracked you can see what appears to be the airbag. I fear this may cause a failed or improper deployment I the event if a accident. If you search online for 2006 Acura TL dashboard crack. You will come across hundreds of pictures and complaints where the crack has always formed around the passenger airbag. I feel this would cause that piece to fly at the passenger in the event of an airbag deployment. If you call Acura they deny an issue or defect and sometimes even say its weather related. Which can't be the case considering it's been happening I'm the exact same spot for everyone.
