CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2002 Chevy Astro Van has a solid reputation with very low complaint rates. The only problem now is finding one with low miles.
Not only is the 2002 Astro Van reliable, but since they were built on a truck powertrain, they can tow 5,500/5,000 lbs (RWD/AWD) -- almost double what other minivans can.
The Chevy Astro is mechanically identical to the GMC Safari.

When I accelerate the van will chug for a few kms. This has happened several times over the past few months. I have yet to find the solution for the problem even though it has been to several garages. They all assume a moisture problem and have changed the distributor cap and rotor on 4 occasions over a 1 year span. This did seem to solve the problem for a few months and an average of 3000 km. But the problem returns! Each time the van chugged or sputtered more eventually causing the engine light to come on. The only code it would read is engine misfire. Any solutions would be helpful.
