CarComplaints.com Notes: In many ways, the 2012 Cruze continues the legacy of its predecessor. It's a legacy of sluggish transmissions and coolant leaks, but it's still a legacy.

To be fair, the number of complaints about the cooling system are way down versus the 2011 model which led to a class-action lawsuit.

On the flip-side, there's more concerns about brake problems.

However, there were far more Cruze vehicles sold for the 2012 model year so we'll give it our "Beware of this Clunker" badge rather than the "Avoid Like the Plague."

gas pedal broke off

My wife drove the car in my daughter's driveway, the car sped up and ran into my daughter's SUV. My wife put the car in reverse went to step on the gas pedal and it broke off. She could not find it with her foot so she look down and there it was on the floor, broken off above the pedal. Needless to say she was pissed, we called GM saying this could happen to someone else, or my wife could of been on a freeway or busy road or good thing my daughter's SUV stop my wife because she could of ran into the garage or the side of the house. No big deal to GM, they said since car is leased and under 36000 miles they will install new pedal or the whole part and case is closed, we don't think so. Best part dealership gave us a loaner guess what? Cruze, wife will not drive it.

Anybody out there that had a gas pedal fall off while driving would like to know

Update from Dec 1, 2015: Accelerator unit was replaced free because of under 36000 miles did not do anything else, I had to get my car and daughter's car repaired and I had to pay my $500 deductible. Talk to GM they said they would give me an extended warranty on the engine and free On-Star, told them the car is leased and I am returning it this January, told them I would like them to pay my insurance and my $500 deductible they said no that GM does not pay cash to customers and there was nothing else they could do. Told them I will never buy a GM product again, they said they are sorry but they consider the case closed. Said they replaced part free and no recall so it was just a freak accident.
