CarComplaints.com Notes: In many ways, the 2012 Cruze continues the legacy of its predecessor. It's a legacy of sluggish transmissions and coolant leaks, but it's still a legacy.

To be fair, the number of complaints about the cooling system are way down versus the 2011 model which led to a class-action lawsuit.

On the flip-side, there's more concerns about brake problems.

However, there were far more Cruze vehicles sold for the 2012 model year so we'll give it our "Beware of this Clunker" badge rather than the "Avoid Like the Plague."

I have Car Shield but they do not cover the repair completely. They cover 3,184.00, The Dealer is charging me 4,000 dollars cash and I am a widow,81 years old and and on Social Security. I am very sick right now and can not deal with this bad situation.

Cruze ECO 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

I am finding the repair cost for this repair to be kind of on the high end for a simple hose swap. I know they must flush and top off the transmission again but almost $300? for a entry level / daily driver car?

Cruze LT 1.4L Turbo

  • Automatic transmission
  • 56,234 miles

Was doing my own oil change at 90,000 km and noticed little red dots of oil on the bottom of pan. Went to check level, but no dipstick on transmission cap. Phoned the dealer I bought car from, made appointment and the found the lines leaking.

Cruze LS 1.8L I4

  • Manual transmission
  • 51,000 miles

Over the period since my new manual transmission was installed under warranty, transmission fluid started appearing on my garage floor. This happened under the front of the vehicle, towards the center-driver's side. Everyday, there's a good amount of fluid on the floor (not just a drop or two every other week). The dealer did not know how to fix this issue.

JUST CONCERNED IF IT IS UNDER WARRANTY. THE CAR MANUAL SAID IF TRANSMISSION IS LEAKING FLUID TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER.
