Have to put the car back into park, then reverse to get the steering wheel just right or the key will not come out.

This is a problem that occurs every day. Do I really need to put in 200 some reports. I turn off the car and you can't get the freakin key out of the ignition without turning it back and forth until it decides to come out. I sit sometimes 40 50 times to the point where my f*cking wrist hurts and I want to scream my bloody head off. I am a single mother -recently left and moved out ( not your problem) however the dealer told me the entire steering column had to come out and be replaced to the tune of $ 1200 dollars and that was just a guess. I don't have that kind of money without taking from my child.

I think that you should pay for this so I can be done with this freaking aggravation that I go through every time in the morning and every evening when I get home and god only knows how many times it happens on Saturdays and Sundays when we are out --even my 12 year old is sick of it. There will be a time I guarantee where it will stop coming out and then I am screwed because it will drain the battery since it doesn't come all the way back to the start position.

This was a serious problem for quite a while, I finally got fed up with it when I had to leave the key in the ignition so I could take my daughter into her dr's appt. I had been sitting in the parking lot for 20 minutes trying to get the key out of the ignition and it took another hour of turning the car over, putting it in reverse, putting it in drive, putting it in park, then trying to take the key out.

I had to take it in a few times to get it fixed which what cost me the $256 the first time for the ignition cylinder replacement. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it each time, the last time they covered the price to fix it. I saw that some dealerships are replacing the keys which seems like the easy way out. Although I did pay to get a new key to see if that would help, it cost me $483.26. FYI: it still didn't work. And no, GM nor Chevy reimbursed me for my expenses. The last time Chevy replaced the gear shift control assembly. They covered the price of everything and it worked.

I can't remove the key from the ignition at least 75% of the time. I turn the ignition on and put the car in drive and go a few feet and then back up and shut the car off until I can get the key out of the ignition. I am now using my backup key because this problem started with the original key. When I started using the second key, this wasn't a problem for a long time (probably over a year). Now all of a sudden, it is happening again. I'll have to take it into the dealership and get it fixed - sounds like the key cylinder or something like that.
