The ignition locked up. It continues to jam up sometimes at unpredictable times. On this morning the signal for service air bag lit up. I continued driving and after a few minutes it turned off. I took the vehicle into my local dealer ([xxx]) on March 11, 2014, where I was informed the air bag may not function if I am in an accident. The service air bag light has continued to light up more frequently. Presently it turns on almost every day or every 2 days. Concerned the air bag will not work when it is needed. I realize that as the owner of the vehicle I am responsible for the maintenance of the car on parts that are used and worn, but in this case, the malfunction of an integral part of the vehicle associated to the safety and performance of the vehicle should be a standard functioning part that should work throughout the life of the vehicle. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I own a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The I could not get the key out of the ignition and the failure continued at random on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the ignition key assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired and the failure still recurred. The vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the shift cable needed to be replaced. $600 dollars for both repairs.

On Saturday May 25, 2013 my 2007 Chevrolet Equinox would not start. The key had gotten stuck in the ignition and I did not remove it and I think that killed the battery. I tried to jump start the car with no success. Finally on Sunday May 26,2013 I had a professional come jump start it. After it started the power steering went out and the stabilitrak warning light came on. This has never happened before and I don't know what's causing it. I read in the forum that there were several other Equinox's with the same problem. I think it should be a recall.

Ignition key will not come out once the car is turned off and put into park. I have read numerous complaints concerning this problem and no-one can tell if this happens because of the key cylinder or because of gear shift not properly going into park.

Detected smell of gasoline while parked among many other cars. Did not think much of it until at home detected smell of gasoline inside and out of the vehicle. Look around and saw gas dripping from the rear passenger side of car. Check under the car and it seemed like gas leaking from the top of the gas tank. Took vehicle to dealer and agreed on repair. Dealer had previously said cost would be approximately 500 dollars. When vehicle was at the garage I was told over 900 dollars to repair. I agreed, hoping there would eventually be a recall, since I had read of many complains on line. I was able to get the labor charged refunded to me. A few months later I received a safety recall notice. The letter specifically says "your 2007 model year Chevrolet Equinox, VIN xxxxxxxxxxxxx is involved in safety recall 12190. Etc. When to dealer, and the service guy say "your vehicle does not show any open recalls and that only certain one have that fuel pump module recall. I told him "look at the letter" but I got nowhere. True I had the vehicle repaired, but the letter mentions a refund. Plus, did I get the right replacement part or some other generic part? so why does my letter say involved in safety recall..yet the dealer's system says "no" to this recall. By the way I did buy it in California and it's register also at California.

When you turn off car and go to remove the keys they are stuck in the ignition. You have to start the car again and usually move it before you can remove the keys and even then it usually takes several attempts. This happens about one out of every four times I drive the car.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle emitted a strong fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the fuel failure. The dealer inspected the vehicle but was unable to locate the fuel failure. In addition, the sun-roof seal was defective and causing water to penetrate the interior of the vehicle. As a result, the interior light would not provide proper illumination. The dealer advised that the sun-roof could not be repaired and the interior lighting failure could have been caused by a faulty alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000 and current mileage was 78,000.

First problem happened recall on spark plug boot 1 cylinder wasn't firing, was fixed under warranty as was the gasket for the hatchback was bad. That lead to a gallon or so of water into my spare tire compartment. This has since happened again and I need another gasket. The driver side window stopped working, being a electrician I found to broken wires inside rubber boot on door hinge side. ABS light constantly comes on/off computer says ABS needs service ( sensor problem). Gas gauge is reading incorrectly, I have to use the range setting on the computer. Speedometer readings incorrect sits at 60mph when the car is off. I bought this vehicle brand new and have nothing but problems, most of any vehicle I've owned. Current mileage 63,000 miles.

The car will not start, the battery was tested to be good. The fan will run after the vehicle is turned off. Which in turn drains the battery. Would have to jump start the car. This would work for a few days and have to jump start it again. The mechanic do not understand and will have to see it happen again to understand the problem. All systems show no error messages. This has to an electrical problem with the fan and battery.

At least 10 times over the course of the past year, the key would not turn the ignition and sometimes the key gets stuck. After numerous attempts of jiggling the key and trying to move the steering wheel (which seems to be locked when this happens) I get the key to turn. I just took it to the dealer two months ago and they said everything was working as normal. If this is normal, what is abnormal? this happened to my sister's aveo and they replaced her ignition, but her key still gets stuck sometimes.
