So Chevrolets are total sh*t just right off the bat. Who designs an engine and thinks, "Hmmm what would be efficient? I've got it! TWO fuel pumps." In the 6 months I've owned this rolling piece of garbage, I've replaced not one but two fuel pumps totaling roughly 1400 dollars. Other than that the fact that I've dumped a more money into the car on repairs than on it's payments, it's been a great car. YOBCO (You only buy a Chevy once).

Equinox LT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

While driving at any speed, situation, there is apparently no related cause of this issue - the car loses power, the "service stabilitrek" message appears, I clear that message, and "service transmission" appears. I clear that. Whatever speed I am traveling at stays on the odometer, even if I am completely stopped. The miles will not roll over. I can continue to drive with it, but clearly am guessing my speed at this point and if I get the speed up too high the engine sounds like it is being stressed and the RPMS go up...so I watch the RPMs and continue to drive until I can stop in a safe spot. If while I am driving during this, I have to stop at a light etc., when I attempt to accelerate it is as if the car is in 3rd gear and moves very slowly until it finally catches and then maintains speed until I have to stop again. Once I can stop and shut the car off. I let it sit; often times it resets itself and drives as if nothing has happened, leaving the engine light on for the next two engine shutoff/turn-ons. It occasionally will not start up at all until it sits for approx. 10-20 min. Then fire it up and she drives again as if nothing has happened. I took it to the dealership to be looked at and the computer could not pick up on anything as it wasn't doing this bullshit when I brought it there. I ended up getting charged for them to repair some wires that were exposed. A day later it happened again. It was after the service shop hours, so I drove home, shut it off and then the next start up it had reset, drove fine, with engine light on. A few days later it did it while running errands and I drove (as quickly as the car would allow) to the dealership and pulled into the service garage, left it running and told them to check it. They ended up saying that the computer wasn't communicating and it was under warranty so they replaced it free of charge. I picked it up from this "repair" and whammo, later that night it happened again. It has been an on-going issue and makes depending on this vehicle for trips over an hour nerve-wracking, wondering when and where it will happen again.

Equinox LTZ V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 3,000 miles

I was driving down the road and the bells started ringing and the car slowed down. Engine light came on and message said engine power reduced and stabiltrack needs servicing. I was way out in the country and it will need to be towed but no one can tell me how long it will be gone or what I will need for transportation. I suggested I go with the vehicle but they said to wait....UGH!!!!!

Update from Nov 16, 2012: The first dealership changed the fuel sensor rail and it ran for 15 miles and the same thing happened again. This time I personal;ly delivered it to another dealership and they replaced one of the fuel pumps. It has worked for about 100 miles now.
