When I first purchased the 2013 Chev Equinox, (I purchased it brand new) I heard knocking sounds coming from the right back. I brought it to the dealership and was told it was from the cold weather and we didn't have to worry about it. The vehicle would jerk every so often, and we brought it back to get looked at. We were told that because it was a 6 Cylinder this was normal for the vehicle. This kept on for all the years we had the vehicle. Then last year the Stalling started when coming to an intersection. I added Injector Cleaner and the stalling stopped for about nine months then it started to stall again recently. We have been told by a couple of Mechanics that they believe it is a transmission problem. we had the transmission flushed, we had it in for servicing and had the oil changed regularly. This vehicle was supposed to last us for many more years but, we now have it parked, as the cost to get it fixed is too much for us

Equinox 2.4L 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,500 miles

I have had to have the rings and pistons replaced on my 2013 Equinox in January of this year due to excess oil consumption. Ever since they done the overhaul, my transmission is acting like it can't keep up. Hard shifting, bucking at stop lights, lack of "get up and go" when trying to accelerate, are all symptoms. I took it back to the dealer today for them to take a look. They stated that they had to reprogram a few things due to having my battery disconnected for so long before, that the car "forgot" some of its programming. I find that to be a load of crap!! I looked at just trading it in a month ago, but they would not give me enough for my vehicle to make it worth it. I am disgusted with this car now.

Equinox 4 cyliner

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,233 miles

I cannot believe that I have this problem with my 2013 Equinox, it is not even a year old yet and only has 6,233 miles on it. It's totally crazy that this happened this soon on a new car. What do I have to look forward to the rest of the time I own this car.

This is the first of many transmission related issues. Brought to local dealer after first occurance who drove for a number of days and could not duplicate problem. Drove car for about 3 weeks. Was out of state; parked at rest stop and car would not go into reverse. Wife and son and to push car backwards to get out of parking spot. Drove OK until we got to destination then loud thunk. Car would not shift past 2nd gear. Made it to local dealer and got loaner. Got car back 3 weeks later. Replaced 3,5 & R wave plates & clutch housing assemblies, reverse spring retainer & housing, 1,2,3 & 4 piston, low reverse 1,2,3 & 4 clutch, low reverse piston. Car drove OK for about 3 months then surging & bucking coming to stop happened again. Took car back to local dealer again who drove for a week with no duplication of problem. A week later same problem happen 7 times in one day. Back to dealer who was able to duplicate problem. Replaced many of same parts as out of state dealer. Got car back 3/31/14. We'll see what happens. Going after GM (lemon law)
