Purchased 2015 Equinox LT. Had only 52k miles when it started to intermittently stall on the road and at stop signs/stoplights. Initially in “check engine light†came on but then went out after the engine died at a stop light and the check engine light never came on again.
The engine first shuttered and died at a stop sign. Restarted car, stepped on gas and car again stalled. Every time the engine died I had to put the car in park before I could restart the engine. This did not make cars behind me very happy.
The dangerous part of this issue occurred when the car started to stall on the highway. While in rush hour, the engine would sputter every time I took my foot off the gas. If I had to put the car in “park†before starting it could have easily caused an accident if trailing cars were not observant. This routine continued several times over a couple of days before the Equinox was brought to a mechanic to be fixed. The mechanic said two engine codes were observed and replaced two (Intake and Exhaust) Solenoids. He said this issue was common with 2015 Equinoxes. He also stated this issue was fairly early (52k) in the life of an Equinox.
As I was very dissatisfied with this issue I decided to write this complaint to help others. I also hope Chevrolet will take note of my complaint and work to solve this issue in future models.
